Maybe the memory goes with age, but, I swear that at one time, this chain was called “Children’s Discount Supermart” and their motto was toys are us, rather than the name of the stores being Toys R Us.

I’ve searched online and can’t find any reference to this.

Off topic, but I also swear that the former Zayre chain, used to be called Towers before it was Zayre. Again, I can’t find anything online to confirm that memory.

I remember Children’s Bargain Town in the Midwest with their mascot Geoffrey the Giraffe. They were one of the chains that were eventually merged into the final Toys R Us.
