Poconos gunmaker's vision: an AR-15 for every American
Philly.Com ^ | 03/15/2018 | Jason Nark

An AR-15 semiautomatic rifle sits perched on a rack, higher than all the other things that decorate Justin Moon’s office in the Poconos.

He built the rifle himself, and it rests above his diplomas from Harvard and the University of Miami and shelves jammed with thick economics textbooks and business guides. Last week he sat at a desk beneath it, discussing a dead-serious plan to make that black gun even more ubiquitous in America.

“I mean, every American should really have an AR,” Moon said. “It’s America’s rifle.” ---SNIP--- Moon’s hatred of communism and socialism has direct roots in North Korea, where his father was imprisoned in a labor camp for five years, accused of being a spy for the South Korean government.

Tell that to David Hogg. Hogg won’t allow this.

I’d prefer an AR-10. Thirty caliber rifles are just a lot more fun to shoot than a 5.56 plinkster.

Hope all that wants one gets one. I’ll keep my Garands, 03s, various revolvers and pistols and “America’s REAL Gun”…lever actions from ‘73 winchester to Marlin 95.

I’m pretty close to these folks, and the factory.

It’s an odd, odd thing about them. But I like what they do. They are just strange people.

Does Kahr even make an AR ?

I don’t think they do. He should want everyone to have a Thompson.

For the record, I don’t have any semi-automatic rifles. None. I used to, but they’re gone now. Can’t remember where they went. Just for the record.

The AR15 is the new musket.

Grew up near there. Dated a girl from Newfoundland. Guy from Greeley beat me out for 1st place in Buck contest on last day of the season many moons ago.
Great area of PA.
I don’t think this is meant to be a flattering article, but a “hey-look at the kooks in PA” article.
Very good, solid people in NE PA, sorry most have to deal with Lackawanna Co dumbocrats. As bad as Philly democrats, but with a NEPA accent.

“Does Kahr even make an AR ?”

Well, from our experience, he makes crappy pistols. I bought my wife a Kahr .380. The damned thing would not go through a 6 round mag with out an FTE. Gun shop sent it back to Kahr for “repairs,” then the shop owners took us to their private range to watch us try to fire it. Same crap. They claimed my wife was “limp wristing” the gun, so I asked the 6 ft 250 lb shop guy to try his hand at it. Same result. I would not recommend a Kahr unless you intend to throw the damned thing at your assailant. We have two other .380 “pocket pistols,” a Sig 238 and a Glock 42. Both of these guns are rock solid, particularly the Sig, which is an all-metal piece.

What’s taking the mass murderers so long to use AK’s? The AR’s need some slack.

I’ve got some of what you mentioned and some you didn’t. Ultimately the AR15 is a blast to shoot. Cleaning it is another story all together.

Ownership should be a requirement for all natural born adult citizens, with an exemption for those opting for the AR-10 or equivalent (don’t the Swiss have something like this?... Works for them).

A plinkster- with a 2,800 FPS muzzle velocity!

Had a similar experience with a Kahr .380. Jammed a couple times and had it sent back and they “polished the ramp and replaced the extractor”. Hasn’t failed since but once a weapon jams even once, it’s hard to trust as a self defense weapon - My Ruger .380 LCP has never jammed from day one.

***What’s taking the mass murderers so long to use AK’s? ***

Back in the 1980s lots of these rifles were imported from various countries, such as the Austrian AUG, and others from South Korea (Daewoo), Australia, China, Egypt, Sweden, Israel and other nations.
Then George HW Bush put a stop to the imports by an executive order.
That left only the AR-15 and Mini-14 built in the USA. Soon other manufacturers also began to make versions of the AR-15.

“Kahr Arms, which he founded in 1995, makes tens of thousands of pistols and rifles each year from facilities in Minnesota and Massachusetts...”

Kahr Arms...holy figtree! I had no idea. I love my Kahr.

Thanks for posting.
