Voting in the Russian presidential election is already under way in the Russian Far East, where polls have opened.

Putin is expected to easily win the first round Sunday with 70% of the vote. Key thing to watch for is the turnout.

With an election with no real suspense, if it falls below the Kremlin-set target of 70%, its likely to tarnish Putin's win.

With the Russian President having an 680% personal approval rating, no wonder the result is an all but foregone conclusion.

To put this in perspective, China pumps $60 worth of oil per citizen per year vs Russia’s $1600. To put this in perspective, just based on oil alone, Russia’s output per capita would be $1600 per person per year even if the non-oil economy just sat around playing chess vs China’s $60.
