I am pretty sure they are in the government retirement program. They are also paid according to the GS levels. When I got out of college many, many years ago the starting pay for a Special Agent was at GS-10 (I asked).

Exactly, he will still get a pension from the Government, he just will not be able to get it at 50 since he will not be considered Law Enforcement. So no Happy Birthday party for McCabe tomorrow.
