“Why don’t they just call it perjury?”

Probably just a legality...but everyone knows what they mean.

I agree. Perjury is a crime. To say someone purged himself as a cause for firing means he was convicted of the crime of perjury by a jury/judge. The criminal charge could (and should) come later.

kinda like the "alleged murderer" who was caught over the dead body with the murder weapon in his hands and 10 witnesses in the room.

But he's just....alleged...

Perjury is narrow. Candor is broad...."truthful and forthcoming".
