As soon as I hear or read the phrase “speaking truth” I stop listening to anything else the speaker has to say, or stop reading anything else the writer has written.
Except when it’s used in a sarcastic or satirical context, of course.
Lefties love to say “speaking truth to power” when the speakee is to their right.
