Because the 18th won’t even exist as it did in November. Saccone will be redrawn back into a “safe” GOP seat and Lamb will have to run again in a presumably safe democrat seat. The warnings about how “important” PA-18 were were always stupid.

Lamb ran as Pro God, Pro Gun Anti Pelosie.

If that isn’t “Conservative” boiler plate, what is?

GOP loss of PA-18 was mostly due to Tim Murphy’s sexual depravity.

Paul Ryan paid good Republican money to say the Democrat candidate was pro-gun.

No one is saying we are not to be concerned about the midterm elections.

We need to get good candidates who will run on the Trump agenda.

All Ronna Romney’s good for is fundraising. May already be too late but we need someone who’s going to fight for every race.

Second, Republicans must expand the party base. Gingrich rightly points out the critical importance that Republicans build support among minorities.

So, are republicans going to have to start promising free Obamaphones?

I would love some of the “experts”, like this author, to do some analysis as to how often a district flips when the incumbent party has the incumbent politician in the seat resigns due to scandal.

FYI,

It is almost impossible to win a seat where the incumbent resigns due to scandal. The GOP even flipped a dark blue seat in NO after Katrina due to a Dem scandal.

Ryan and McConnell want to be in the minority.

The Dems ran a cleancut, well-dressed, young, energetic guy who blew enough conservative dog whistles about Pelosi, gun control, etc. to distract conservatives from positions on a broad spectrum of conservative issues. A new generation of Dems has figured out what Bill Clinton knew: Dems can win by pretending to be other than their real selves.

The Republicans ran an oldish, flabby white guy, who did came across as tired, unorganized, unskilled at campaigning, and lacking any fresh, compelling reason to elect him. You can’t beat something with nothing. (That might be unfair, but it’s the impression I got without following the election closely).

Not the least bit surprising that Republican Party insiders recruit candidates just like themselves, and see no problem to be solved. It took an outsider to win in 2016. Until the leadership changes, the R’s are in trouble.

Star misses the point. Paul Ryan’s PAC was in charge...and ran ONLY tax cut ads. NOTHING on immigration — the most important issue to 18th Trump voters.

Biggest problem the Republican party has is the obstructionist in their party. McCain because Trump got elected and he didn’t. Mitch McConnell a swamp eel, making money from China. Flake a RINO. Marco upset Trump beat him in primary same for a couple others. Vanity runs deep in the GOP. People, get with the platform or your a__es will be grass and fire season is coming.

Re: “Gingrich rightly points out the critical importance that Republicans build support among minorities.”

Impossible.

Huge majorities of Blacks, Hispanics, and Asians categorically reject the basic principles of American Conservatives.
