Famed scientist Stephen Hawking died earlier this week at the age of 76. He is largely regarded as one of the most important physicists in history. Of course, the tributes came pouring in. While most commemorated his genius and determination to transcend the debilitating effects of ALS, others attempted more nuanced commentary. Like USA Today which took Hawkings death as opportunity to remind us of the physicists view that Heaven is a fairy story.
Hawking, who died at 76, spoke candidly in a 2011 Guardian interview about what he believes happens when people die. He told the Guardian that while he wasnt afraid of death, he was in no hurry to die.
I regard the brain as a computer which will stop working when its components fail, he said. There is no heaven or afterlife for broken down computers; that is a fairy story for people afraid of the dark.
It should come as no surprise that Hawking was not religious. In Hawkings 2010 book, The Grand Design, Hawking said a creator is not necessary in the narrative of how the world was created.
While such an approach eulogizing Hawking by highlighting his disbelief in an afterlife has sticky philosophical ramifications, others chose to have a little fun with it. Like God (on Twitter).

The universe doesn’t care, but its Creator does care and is saddened that Hawking rejected the salvation offered to him.
Nope he is less than a pimple on hilarys a$$
A man said to the universe: Sir, I exist!
However, replied the universe,. The fact has not created in me.
A sense of obligation.

Speaking of which, I understand she wanted frst dibbs on his chair and see n say.
Hawkins for the first time in many years was able to stand tall and healthy in front of the Lord only to hear, “I never knew you.” And that was the end of that.
Did he ever have anything that was proven correct?
conversely, was he ever proven incorrect?
Did Newton change the world?
Did Hawking change the world?
There are some things I didnt agree with Hawkings on, but theres no denying he was a remarkable man.
Sheldon sure was a fan.
.
Of Which “Hawking” are you speaking?
According to various Hawking watchers there have been from 3 to 5 different Hawkings over the years.

.
>> “Did Newton change the world?” <<
Yes.
>> “Did Hawking change the world?” <<
Fortunately not much if at all.
.
Neither changed anything, both added to the understanding and description of the earth and universe.
Scientists have stated that the Universe is so complex and unique/precise that creating could not have been an accident.
God does and its his creation
Infinite as it is
And boy is it infinite
Take a straw
In a rural area in dead winter on a clear no moon night look at stairs through it
Inside that straw if you could see it like your own Hubble telescope are millions of galaxies like our own Galaxy
Out there somewhere
Carl Sagan hat tip
“conversely, was he ever proven incorrect?”
He at one point came out with some theory then two weeks later came out with another theory that completely contradicted the first theory. It was just the opposite of the first theory.
Take that for what it is worth and whether or not he was wonderful or just another hack who became famous because he had ALS and theorized many things. Many of which cannot be proven nor disproven.
Great point. My first thought as well. However, we really don’t know how his relationship with G-d was at the end. We all have a chance for redemption until we no longer have any choices. On his last day, he had one choice left, as we all do. I pray that he chose well. The great gift that G-d gave humans was the freedom to chose. Animals don’t have choices. They were born as animals and they will die as animals. In my humble opinion.
Newton made it possible for humans to get to the moon. Now, you can argue that Newtons discoveries would have been made by someone else. Then, that person would be the Newton .
