If you recall, Trump never made any big promises re PP. His primary opponents attacked him for it. They didn’t notice he wasn’t your typical Republican. He’s a populist. That’s why he won the general elections. Had Cruz or any of the others been the nominee, it would have been Crooked H in the WH.

Many Republicans voted for the budget because they believed Trump would give them cover by signing it.
If Trump had the balls to veto it, they would have switched their vote. There is no way they would have gotten 2/3 to override in the House.
Trump is a lame duck now anyway. The MAGA agenda is dead. Schumer and Pelosi rule.

Bull. You have no idea what you’re talking about. Those cowards would never follow Trump’s lead to sustain a veto.

You want better results? Get your ass out and elect MAGA Republicans. Primary the RINOS. Expecting Trump to do all the heavy lifting is totally asinine.

He didn’t even have to guts to try to be a leader. He sold himself as an expert negotiator and this is the worst deal of the century. SAD!

Conservatives will stay home in droves. Trump will preside over a midterm debacle and he has nobody to blame but himself.

I see. Was he a coward when he pulled the US out of the Paris accords? Was he a coward when he pulled the US out of TPP? The list is endless. How about his going against the US CoC? Tariffs ring a bell? How many Republicans have the guts to do that? He will use Army Corps of Engineers funding to build the wall. Trump could build it much cheaper than the bean counters say it will. Now go back and play in your sandbox and leave us to take care of adult business.

A lot can happen between now and November—a lifetime of things. I didn’t expect a perfect president when I voted Trump and he’s done a lot in 14 months—even fighting his own party, the Media, Hollywood, fellow billionaires, and the Democrats and Clintonistas. I am surprised he is still alive! The hate has been pitched to an 1860 level. What can happen? Clinton found out, Obama unmasked, War, Peace, Natural disasters, assassinations or attempted ones! Another 9-11? The hate Trump/Love illegals will be pitched up to the Election—TO GAIN POWER FOR the DNC.

Trump on November 16, 2016:

“We’ll build the wall so fast you head will spin”

It must be nearly completed by now, no?

No, he is the President, not the Congress.

Read the Constitution.

Ummm - the Senate had 67 votes already - the House was at over 60% of those who had voted - wishing something while crapping in your hand will get you a handful of crap and one un-granted wish - go wash your hands.

He should have been a man and used his veto. He caved to Schumer and Pelosi. He lied to us.

Self righteous conservative purists are the bane of the conservative world.

Ann was (jonah was, Steve was, Bill was)

“Ann has awful taste.”

IIRC, she was hot and heavy with Bill Maher a while back, too. That’s some kind nasty!

Trump wasn’t the one responsible for the budget.

But he did sign it into law.

The arguments that President Trump had no choice but to sign are faulty. It also implies that he is not driving his agenda. He could have vetoed. Votes to override were not a foregone conclusion, and that sort of argument also suggests that President Trump has been sidetracked from his agenda that he laid out on the campaign trail and while in office.

President Trump knew what he was getting himself into when he ran and he knows that now. He also knows that many Republicans are working against him.

Ummm - the Senate had 67 votes already...

I think that's speculation at best. Certainly in the House it was problematic.

President Trump deserves every chance to succeed in advancing his agenda outlined when he ran for President. He knows what he is up against (media, GOPe, etc. - I don't believe that has (or should have) taken him by surprise.

Certainly in the House it was problematic.

Oh come on.

Put a major defense spending bill in front of the House and LET them try vote it down.

If he had, and and they had, the leftists and the rinos would have been wiped out come next fall.

Instead, sorry to say it, but he listened to the squishy mob around him and caved.

Conservatives will stay home in droves.

*******************

What does that say about conservatives? They’ll quit fighting
and roll over and let the libs win? If they truly care they
will continue to fight at both the ballot box and other means
available to them. Staying home and not fighting is a sure
win for the democrats.

And he is playing the long game, not the short one.

A veto would have put the GOP on the spot and open for attacks during the midterms.
