SEOUL, South Korea — South Korea has agreed to further open its auto market to the United States as the two countries prepare to amend their 6-year-old trade agreement following complaints by President Donald Trump.

...It marks the first successful renegotiation of a trade deal for the Trump administration — which used the threat of 25 percent steel tariffs at the bargaining table — and comes as the allies sought to resolve disputes before planned meetings with Kim Jong Un.

“” “” And we allow them to dump how many tens of thousands of crappy Hyundai or Kia’s?”” “”

Kia was crap 20 years ago. Not so much nowadays.

Absolutely fake. The big problem with SoKo market is $5/gallon gas, not tariffs.

Chevy Malibu sells for USD 21,000 - USD 35,000 depending on the model

Impala sells for USD 33,000 at the base model (there's actually a waiting list for Impalas)

etc, etc.

Compare that to local cars like

Sonata, which goes for $20,000 to $30,000

or a Genesis which goes for $45,000 to $70,000

And those 2 Asian cars that don’t work are still worth more at trade in/resale.

Thus when something other than a yugo hits it it folds up, like a cheep suit.

I try not to hit anything , been driving since 1954 and haven't hit anyone yet nor have I been hit while driving.

My last Buick was a LeSabre and you wouldn’t believe the mileage it got. I had to put it down when the electrical system went crazy.

It was only a set of circumstances that I didn’t buy the KIA, beautiful car. Superior to American brands in the same price range.

I bought 11 American made cars only half were acceptable. Not only that but you don’t even know where these cars are made, could be Georgia or South Carolina.

If Japan is any guideline, not many. The Yakuza in Japan like American cars in the full sized version. So do some niche markets for the novelty factor. The Toyota Camray and Honda Accord size cars, not so much. The local version is cheaper and better.

Perhaps...

But my truck will still be running in 5 years while those Asian cars will be turned into beer cans by then. At least they will still be useful, beer can be tasty, especially on hot days.

It’s an actual printed paper. I believe the most circulation in Pittsburgh. Here we have the Gazette and the Tribune.

“” “” I spent 6 days in South Korea in 2005, and didn’t see any American vehicles, none. They are good people and allies, but it is S Korea first.”” “”

Koreans beaten the Japanese in home appliances and they are set to beat the Japanese on auto market too.

Try KIA Stinger, it is basically a classic American muscle car but refined and built to Asian quality standard. There is something about this car the Japanese never managed to get.

Genesis by Hyundai are all great rides. They would be better than Lexus in a couple years.
