Retired Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens is calling for the repeal of the Second Amendment to allow for significant gun control legislation.
The 97-year-old Stevens says in an essay on The New York Times website that repeal would weaken the National Rifle Association's ability to "block constructive gun control legislation."
Stevens was on the losing end of a 2008 ruling in which the high court held that the Second Amendment gives individuals the right to own a gun for self-defense. He had previously called for changing the Second Amendment to permit gun control.

What a (expletive deleted)!
Micky Mouse demands recall of all mouse traps!
If he had said abortion was not a protected right, and if it were, change it, Stevens would get no publicity at all.
I agree... but I also think that repealing it the way the founders set it up to be is WAY better that writing laws that blatantly defy it.
And repeal would never pass.
The Democrats used American military armored vehicles and burned up children to make a political point.
We need Democrat control.
No gun control.
Never.
We dont want to kill them, but they want to kill us.
My rights do not come from government. Even the government repeals the entire Bill of Rights, I still possess every single one of them.
I “urge” this old fool to end his apparent suffering from derangement.
Ya don’t say...........
So he favors Hitler's position on Guns?
agreed
I can think of about 11 state legislatures that would probably vote to repeal. That would leave The Swamp about 27 short.
It is far easier for people who don’t like the way the USA is organized to simply go someplace else. Go to Europe or Mexico.
Don’t try to “perfect” our great nation. We are fine and will be better without you.
Yup.
No...he supports Stalin's and Mao's position.A good "progressive" like him would *never* support anything that Hitler did.
I think they should go to N. Korea. I am sure they don’t have anything like our second amendment there.
Stevens, Carter, and McCain need to get together and make a joint statement on how to fix our problems.
Let’s “repeal” Justice Stevens - after all, he’s 97, and therefore “ancient and outdated.”
Sorry I work with the elderly. No one this old still has it that together. They can cook, drive, whatever, but issues like this slip by them.
