GOP donors fret about Dem wave

The nation’s top conservative donors and fundraisers are increasingly alarmed by the prospect of a midterm election wave that could cost Republicans control of the House.

But the party’s deep-pocketed donors aren’t ready to abandon their efforts to keep the House in GOP hands — not yet at least.

More than a half-dozen senior Republican donors and fundraisers interviewed by The Hill acknowledged that protecting the Senate majority might at some point become the only sensible investment for Republican donors.

There is growing frustration among donors with the GOP-controlled House — most recently over the passage of a massive budget that donors are describing as an affront to their fiscally conservative principles. But for now, the party’s moneyed class believes the House majority will hinge on just a handful of races. Donors are moving ahead as if their dollars could be the determining factor in whether Republicans maintain a majority.

Democrats need a net gain of 24 seats to win back the House.

I’m not so sure that is valid. I’m no fan of Ryan, but at least the House sends bills, and budgets, to the Senate. It’s in the Senate where they die. Get rid of the turtle.

This is the Hill doing its best to get everyone to view keeping the House in GOP hands as a lost cause so that no one spends money on House races and thus, creates a self-fulfilling prophecy. The last polls show a tightening of the generic lead. That combined with the power of incumbency means that a Dem takeover is no sure thing. It will and should be a battle.

Surge: GOP Improves to Strongest National Polling Position, Majority Approves of Trump’s Economy!

Let’s start with the good news for Republicans in the latest Fox News national survey, conducted by the network’s respected, bipartisan pollster. First, the president’s job approval rating sits at (45/52), which isn’t much to write home about, but is still an improvement over his first year nadir in the mid-to-high 30’s. Second, he’s above water on his handling of the US economy, hitting a (51/44) majority. By a bigger margin (51/32), Americans say they’re feeling more optimistic about their family’s financial situation now than they were a year ago. This aligns with other metrics pointing to a rosier economic outlook. Third, thanks to tax reform, his marks on that issue have surged 16 net points since late 2017 to a respectable (48/46). And then there’s this:

The 2018 generic ballot has trended back toward the GOP, w/ the in-party’s deficit averaging in the mid-single-digits: pic.twitter.com/h875DTLRZA— Guy Benson (@guypbenson) March 26, 2018

Many in the media pounced on the NBC/WSJ polling series’ recent data point showing Democrats bouncing out to a ten-point lead on the Congressional ballot — so at first, I wondered if the Fox number was an outlier. It turns out that NBC/WSJ actually appears to be the outlier, with Fox’s numbers mirroring findings from Marist, Quinnipiac (whose results have been heavily anti-Republican lately) and YouGov/Economist. Reuters/Ipsos shows the partisan split even closer.

That’s a lot better than things have looked for the GOP in some time, despite some negative numbers in the Fox survey: Namely, that the president is underwater on every other issue polled, and that Americans have taken a pro-gun control turn on a number of policy proposals — with respondents splitting (40/53) when asked whether protecting gun owners’ rights or protecting people from gun violence should be more important to lawmakers. A 54-percent majority say that passing stricter gun laws will make no difference or make the country less safe (an anti-gun control shift in the series), but more people worry worry that any Congressional action on the matter won’t go far enough, as opposed to going too far. But big picture, heading into the fall elections, both of these statements are accurate:

The Chicken-Littles want to do everything they can to help the other branch of the Uniparty in November.

They still don't get President Trump or us.

Democrats’ so called “assured” Blue wave, 2018 Election Dreams Could End Up as a Blue Wave Nightmare! If they were on track to beat us, the DNC would not be borrowing money!

Dem’s 2018/20 Blue Wave!

Thanks to Navy Patriot and ObozoMustGo2012 for the above!

I thought the dem lead went from + 15 down to + 5.

If the president pulls out a deal which makes the Korean peninsula nuke free, the GOP polling numbers across the board will improve. Whether they stay that way through November....who knows.

The NBC poll last week which showed the RATS with a + 10 generic rating had a dem + 8 sample and polled adults, NOT likely voters. Tainted, in other words.

They are fretting because the days of them getting 101% of everything on their wish list from Republicans are OVER!

The GOP donors should fret that we the voting fodder are beyond disgusted. We have no confidence the nation can be saved. We began to see the writing on the wall when the DC Traitors couldn't even vote to repeal Obamacare, the one time it mattered.

The GOP donors for sure own the pols they bought and paid for. But they don't own us!

Sorta reminds me of a huge British garrison somewhere in or near SEA during WWII. They outnumbered their Japanese attackers considerably, but just surrendered without much of a fight.

If our GOP is so worried, why don’t they just surrender?

Oh, wait a minute, they already have. They are just going through the motions of pretending they are on our side.

Sorry, but bull-squeeze.

The public, rightfully so, couldn’t give 2 s* about the Korean peninsula, just like ‘Russia Russia Russia’.

What the DO care about is their day2day life. The $$ in their pocket. More specifically, ‘tax cuts’ (more squeeze) and $1.3T+ Omnibus (and the ever increasing bill their (grand)children will bear).

This coming election, and the (R)N(C) pleads, “Vote for ME\US!”. The reply should be, “Why? Anti-Trump, wild spending, anti-wall, non-draining swamp...What have you done to earn my\our vote?”.

If GOP donors are seriously concerned about a Democrat wave, they can begin by pushing Mitch McConnell out of leadership in the Senate.

That will go a LONG way towards changing things.

Maybe they think Democrats promising to raise taxes impeach Trump and try to repeal the 2nd A will give that certain something voters crave. Just sayin’
