So ONLY Amazon should pay sales tax on internet sales (remember Congress has allowed the internet to be sales tax free)?
Amazon does collect sales tax in states that require it - we pay sales tax on gifts we send to relatives in Minnesota, for example - and we live in Montana where there is NO sales tax.

Amazon clearly works hard to try to minimize their taxes as any business would. And because of their size, they are the biggest player in this. So they also happen to be the biggest target, and that’s natural.
For the record, I am against the Socialist concept of “income taxes” because they a) are usually progressive, i.e., penalize intiative; b) violate the 4th amendment (you can read up on that, a prior generation understood it); and c) retard economies by penalizing a nations citizens to the benefit of foreign competition. Excise taxes - i.e. sales tax - is the only fair way to tax, because they scale with economic activity.
And I’m even more against Property Taxes as practiced in America because they are a continuation of the Feudal Manor Taxes which we in America managed to break away from 240 years ago. Those were the Income taxes of their day and we don’t need two of them.
So the ONLY really legitimate tax in my mind is a sales tax. As for funding the national government, that can be accomplished by a single bill sent to each State every year and would amount to their share for being in the club known as the Union. How they get that would be up to the State legislature.
So to me, internet marketing companies working to skate on sales taxes is definitely a big no-no.
