For goodness sake just look at all the weird ways of spying of you have been leaked in the last decade stuxnet, Edward Snowdens revealations, The CIAs tools and NSAs cyperweapons tool kit being leaked and many I can't think of right now.
Obama found himself in a very fortunate position in history all the resources, technology and personal to use the cloud type computing, with all their advanced AI, could be used to process immense amount of signals data and be able to extract meaningful intel automatically. The data collection capabilities alone would probably make one gasp If we truly knew the scope of what they have been upto -especially since 9-11.
Its got to be that Obama was illegally spying on the Trump campaign and channeling that information to media, DNC and HRC. They didn't think they'd ever get caught , they didn't even think it was wrong, in fact they did it all the time with everything else their hubris most likely made them think this is right thing to do.
Plus Trumps not going to win anyhow - what difference does it make? As many have heard, they keep uncovering new leads, new problems and new suspects. The other suspects arent’ going anywhere. Ok, some may go “away” but suicide isn’t considered “getting away.”
The DOJ IG Report is now going to be introduced in parts. That’s how big it’s gotten. Part I will come out in April and feature former FBI Clinton man Andy McCabe.
Better, there’s a DOJ prosecutor already appointed working with the DOJ IG and a grand jury is empaneled. When the logjam breaks, it’s going to be big.

This story “strongly suggests...” - there is evidence far beyond “strongly suggests” without a single thing being done about it, so I’ll just sit here and not hold my breath.
If, and it is still an if as no notice would be given publicly beyond what Sessions has said, there is a simultaneous criminal and IG probe centered on them, they are in the proverbial nutcracker.
They basically destroyed the effectiveness of their right to remain silent with their diarrhea mouth emails and texts.
