A young boy’s Make-A-Wish dream came true Monday when he got to visit the Pentagon and meet with Secretary of Defense General James Mattis and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman General James Dunford.

“This morning, #SecDef Mattis, @thejointstaff chairman #GenDunford & @USArmy Sgt. Maj. John Troxell welcomed Cooper Smith and his family to the #Pentagon. We’re happy to work with @MakeAWish to make Cooper’s wish come true. #KnowYourMil,” the U.S. Department of Defense tweeted Monday, along with a handful of pictures from Smith’s visit.

On the other hand, it is so sad how selfishness and abuse has brought the Make a Wish Foundation to the brink of financial ruin.

I will never forget the sight of a boy of perhaps only eight years of age piloting a "cherry red, sparkly" FA-18 trainer over the horizon "to Disney Land" with afterburners glowing and Britney Spears and a giraffe in the back seat.

The generosity and love of neighbor make our military and its leaders the greatest fighting force ever assembled.
