Liberals just won a seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court by a huge margin
Vox ^ | 3 April 2017 | Andrew Prokop

Liberal candidate Rebecca Dallet has won election to the Wisconsin Supreme Court, according to Decision Desk. Dallet defeated her conservative opponent for the open seat, Michael Screnock easily, and her victory will cut the conservative majority on the court from 5-2 to just 4-3.

Dallet’s win is yet another example of liberal voter enthusiasm in state and local elections held during the age of Trump. And in Wisconsin specifically, it’s a rare victory for a Democratic Party that’s been beaten again and again in recent years. (The race was technically nonpartisan, but Dallet was the Democrat-backed candidate, and Screnock the conservative-backed one.)

However, the court will remain in conservative hands for the near future. The next conservative-held seat won’t be up for election until 2020, and before that, liberals will have to defend one of their own seats next year.

Once elected, Wisconsin Supreme Court justices serve out 10-year terms. However, if a seat should become vacant in the middle of a term, the governor can appoint a replacement justice. A new election is then scheduled for that seat in the first year when there’s no other supreme court election on the ballot (that is, two seats can’t go up for election in the same year). Tuesday’s election is for an open seat held by a conservative justice who chose to retire.

I dont know who did his campaign ads. But the last one with the tuba was cheesy. Dont know that it would account for the big loss. But gotta say I dont think it helped.

Oh I didn’t think about that. Hopefully I was the only one who does. I would imagine most here probably just read the title and 4 paragraphs.....I hope.

I didn’t see a Wisconsin Election thread. I did a search and everything. As far as the site used, FR accepted it. There are many times when I put in a link and FR says, NOPE. So you may be incorrect on your synopsis of the site used.

Voters look at McShame and McConnell and a few more RINO aholes that are preventing us from making much progress and they turn off. Give up. Unfortunate but understandable —- and it just leaves the commie pinko sorozNazi votes, real purchased and faked Either we get a lot more progress soon to repair America from all the obama damage — or we will witness a long- term abdication by many, many frustrated conservative and moderate voters — who tried very hard in 2016 but apparently failed to win congress or at least the senate in any meaningful manner of speaking — and what Trump has been able to achieve has —- by all accounts —-been largely muted, limited —by the RINO sorozNazi blockade

Agreed. The GOP has been such a disappointment.

Ever heard of Ezra Klein? The far-left Soros lackey? Vox is his baby.

Vox is consistently rated as “left” which in MSM newspeak is “Communist.”

https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/vox/

There is a reason that the Vox site came up when you used Google. Google, Facebook and Twitter have been on a crusade to push leftist websites to the top of their search results when people use Google and to the top of their “trending” stories on the social media platforms.

I’d recommend a new search engine. The fact that a website isn’t banned outright, doesn’t mean that it should be highlighted in Breaking News when other more reputable sources are available.

Something to bear in mind (still can’t think of that word), it’s money to VOX.
Yeah, most just read the title.

Not sure what’ll fire up the Trump voters. Won’t be the usual RINO patter. Whatever it is we need it.

All these losses make Roy Moore look better. His loss perhaps not so surprising!

Well I do wonder what November will bring. Ora et labora

No excuses, but this was a state supreme court election, with little at stake, in which normal turnout is 7%+/-.

7.

It wouldn't take much to win this one. Nonetheless, this hopefully will be a wake-up call to party ops.

“Not sure what’ll fire up the Trump voters. “

I do. Restoring the rule of law. Building the wall, deporting illegals and putting the corrupt-staters in prison. If Crooked Hillary were indicted, you would have deplorables coming out in droves.

Hysterical - haven’t been able to browse this website in a long time, and I see people are still engaging in banter about duplicate posts and appropriate media sites. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

The omnibus was the final straw. The Gop have been sticking it to Trump for the last 2 plus years and they haven’t stopped trying...From failing to repeal obolacare to siding with ANTIFA against President Trump.

The GOP are dead-enders for special interests and the corrupt state. The party is no more. Bereft of life. Let’s face it, it’s former party.

The spending bill has nothing to do with this, it was all turnout, super low turnout for an election after Easter Weekend. Nobody knew about it. Anyone could have won this.

I am not losing sleep over it.

In these less-publicized elections two groups tend to show up, the public sector unions and the liberals in the college towns. Where you get both groups combined, like in Madison (Dane County), it’s an absolute blow out. With 87% reporting, Dallet has 107,000 vs. Screnock’s 25,000 votes.

I’m not surprised the liberal won for that reason. Conservatives just aren’t organized for these lower-turnout elections. Organization matters.

The dems were so close to having it all. From never having to worry about elections again.

That's a great point. They are truly insane and desperate people who will try to gain power back at ALL costs. We see it every day and the mask is off. Conservatives gain power and usually do not know what to do with it to progress nor know how to keep it. I would not be surprised if we kept on losing pitiful little elections, lose a good amount of Midterm seats and the President will have quite a battle for a second term maybe even with the stink of impeachment and Mueller.

Wisconsin is the state where Hillary’s failure to turn out Democrat voters is most obvious.

Many people do not realize that Mitt Romney got more votes in Wisconsin than Trump got - and Romney lost the state.
