It is not an either/or proposition. You can have an AG with principles and integrity who also has some common sense and political smarts. Besides, Sessions betrayed his then future boss from the get-go by not telling the President about Sessions’ decision to recuse. How is that principled integrity?

Sessions did what the ethics lawyers in the DOJ said he had to do or he would be in violation of DOJ regulations. Leading an investigation in which you are a possible target.

Can't have a principled man in violation his own department's regulation, now can we?

Unless they were Eric Holder or Loretta Lynch, of course. democRAT operatives doing Obama's and the Deep State's bidding.

Then you'd have somebody who would violate the laws all day long for you. They wouldn't recuse themselves because they didn't seem to care at all about the regulations and laws that keep things legal in our system.

So it is an either/or proposition.

Besides, you or I don't get to select the AG. It's already been done and it's Sessions.
