The whole setup or entrapment by the FBI of Trump, Priebus, and others is like the games middle schoolers play. Playing with literal truths, hypertechnicalities, and then leaking false conclusions and accusations to spread as rumors.
Reading Comey's various testimonies gives a very clear perception that he is a weasel.
I think the material presented to Trump in that Jan 6 meeting was intended to get a rise out of him - not presented with a preface of "here is some BS," rather presented with a straight face, then AFTER the reaction, saying, yeah, but we think it is BS. Also, Comey says the intelligence community KNEW the Steele dossier was going to hit the news. This is why, so goes the BS cover story, it was shown to Trump at all. That excuse has a couple problems. The FBI doesn't share all the BS stories that spin up in HuffPo, Enquirer, etc, so this was not just some BS story. In hindsight we know it wasn't just BS because the FBI told the FISA court this BS story was reliable intelligence.
