This “ridiculous late season arctic outbreak” is likely to threaten many cold records, tweeted Michael Palmer, a meteorologist for the Weather Company.

Ridicule is something that is leveled at a person for making a claim or taking action that is either not accurate or beyond the bounds of normal behavior.

Natural weather is not something subject to ridicule. There is no perpetrator to ridicule for their actions.

This weather would be strange, record-breaking, abnormal, unseasonable, but not ridiculous.

record breaking only means that it has not been this cold on this particular day in the year. As far as recorded temperatures are known. This is called dicking around with stats.

So it could be twice this cold on the next day in recorded history but that won’t be discussed.
