A crash between a transport truck and a bus carrying a junior hockey team in western Canada has left 14 people dead and others seriously injured, Canadian police said.
The bus was carrying the Humboldt Broncos of the Saskatchewan junior hockey league to the town of Nipawin for a playoff game.
There have been multiple fatalities, our whole community is in shock, said Kevin Garinger, the president of the Humboldt Broncos.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said there were 28 people on the bus when the crash happened on Friday afternoon. Fourteen of them were killed, including the driver, and the other 14 had been taken to hospital, three of them in critical condition.
Garinger said parents were rushing to the scene as they struggled to cope with the tragedy.
Its a horrible accident, my God, said Darren Opp, the president of the Nipawin Hawks hockey team. Its very, very bad.

That is awful. Thoughts and prayers sent to those affected. This League is primarily made up of players under 20 years of age.
Horrible
So terrible...
Same thing happened with the Swift Current Broncos back in the 1980s. Not as many fatalities, but in the Swift Current incident I think there were a couple of future NHL stars — including Hall of Famer Joe Sakic — on the bus.
I am unable to find any information on the truck driver. Wonder why...
Horrible, three of my grand kids play hockey in Wisconsin. The oldest plays on a high school team in Wisconsin. They are bussed to games in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Illinois. I always worry about their safety while travelling.
Don’t know, but the truck t-boned the bus.
Back to the tense moments on the winding cliff roads when I was coaching baseball.
Awful.
God lift the families of the dead and injured.
This is a horrific accident,my prayers are with all involved.
How tragic. Prayers to their family and friends.
Assault trucks must banned.
Can’t imagine, and don’t want ever to experience, the parents’ pain. All those young lives lost and survivors’ lives changed forever.
