As I said on a thread a few days ago, there are three factions of FReepers who will call their fellow FReepers who do not support the US’s illegal military invasion of a sovereign country Putin butt kissers and Assad Ass Kissers.

Thank you for providing an example for me.

We got a really bad batch in here early on in the Iraq War.

I will not consent to lose any more friends due to lies of armchair psychopaths.

I want to know WHO is making up these lies and I want them on the gallows.

Nobody’s falling for you boogieman. Everyone with half a brain and a shred of intellectual honesty can tell the very convenient timing of this, right after President Trump expressed a desire to exit Syria.

This is a manufactured pretext.

It’s time the manufacturers were exposed and prosecuted.

I don’t doubt Assad did it. People do stupid things all the time. Others have done much dumber things. Stalin whacked most of the senior people in his officer corps before his plan to attack Germany was pre-empted by Operation Barbarossa. Hitler insisted on running the war personally in spite of repeated disasters caused by his mistakes. And Saddam made his move on Kuwait without foreseeing the practically unanimous global reaction to the threat of the unification of Gulf oil supplies under one ruler.

Of course, the people I’ve mentioned were playing for much higher stakes, whereas Assad’s civil war is basically won. Then again, Assad inherited his position, whereas Stalin, Hitler and Saddam were self-made men. So his mistake is much easier to understand - he’s just not as bright as his father was.

Nonsense. There is a near-zero real-world chance that Assad actually ordered a chemical weapons attack.

It makes no sense as a military strategy.

It makes no sense as a political strategy.

One basically has to assume that a man who has kept control of a highly fractious nation for many years is actually completely arbitrary and suicidal.

This is not a realistic explanation.

The only realistic explanation is that the same forces which have been doing their best through deception and fraud to get the United States deeper and deeper into a war against Syria (and by proxy, against Russia) have concocted yet another lie.

I am not having any more friends die for their lies.

No more.

Never again.

“...Volunteer rescue force the White Helmets tweeted graphic images showing several bodies in basements. It said the deaths were likely to rise.
There has been no independent verification of the reports.
Syria’s government has called the allegations of a chemical attack a “fabrication”....”
**************************************************
Well, once again the “Rebel” White Helmets and their associated propagandists are up to their old tricks of positing a “government gas attack” in an effort to get America and allied forces to bomb the Syrian government. They always seem to stage one of these PHONY attacks when they are getting their asses handed to them militarily.

Don’t fall for it, folks.

Good to know you have half a brain and only a shred of intellectual honesty.

People with full functionality know the history of the Assad/Putin Terror Pact and that President Trump already took action in the past.

Right on Cue:

Press Statement
Heather Nauert
Department Spokesperson
Washington, DC
April 7, 2018

We continue to closely follow disturbing reports on April 7 regarding another alleged chemical weapons attack, this time targeting a hospital in Douma, Syria. Reports from a number of contacts and medical personnel on the ground indicate a potentially high number of casualties, including among families hiding in shelters. These reports, if confirmed, are horrifying and demand an immediate response by the international community.

The United States continues to use all efforts available to hold those who use chemical weapons, in Syria and otherwise, accountable. The regime’s history of using chemical weapons against its own people is not in dispute, and in fact nearly one year ago on April 4, 2017, Assad’s forces conducted a sarin gas attack on Khan Sheikhoun, which killed approximately 100 Syrians.

The Assad regime and its backers must be held accountable and any further attacks prevented immediately. Russia, with its unwavering support for the regime, ultimately bears responsibility for these brutal attacks, targeting of countless civilians, and the suffocation of Syria’s most vulnerable communities with chemical weapons. By shielding its ally Syria, Russia has breached its commitments to the United Nations as a framework guarantor. It has betrayed the Chemical Weapons Convention and UN Security Council Resolution 2118. Russia’s protection of the Assad regime and failure to stop the use of chemical weapons in Syria calls into question its commitment to resolving the overall crisis and to larger non-proliferation priorities.

The United States calls on Russia to end this unmitigated support immediately and work with the international community to prevent further, barbaric chemical weapons attacks.

#13 re what are the advantages of chemical weapons over explosives?

Chemical weapons do the following:

1. Kill concentrations of troops, people, animals, etc.
2. Are inexpensive to make (usual delivery is by artillery shell, chemical mortar or bombs).
3. Some chemical gases are “persistent” gases that remain active in the area they were used, for a long time. Makes the whole area contaminated and unusable.
4. Can cover a large area depending on the means of dispersal. Explosive bombs usually only damage a limited area (re explosive radius/radiating point to the end of its effectiveness). Gases continue to disperse until they lose velocity and then can settle down and still remain active on the ground, in caves, basements, etc.
5. Chemical weapons are easy to transport by truck or plane.
6. Most semi-military and civilian groups have no defenses against them.

My father was in the Chemical Warfare Service during WW2, working on the 4.2” Chemical Mortar (WP). It was the one smaller artillery weapon that the Germans feared the most and it broke the German defense lines at the German border with Belgium/France.

The Soviets have always had a major CBW program since at least the 50’s, reportedly at hidden sites in Siberia as well as scattered around the Soviet Union.

Saddam had a limited CW program as did the Egyptians (used in Yemen in planes flown by Soviet pilots), Red China (extent of program unknown), possibly No. Korea (logical), and perhaps Cuba (for use in Africa - Angola, 1974-75), etc.

As I have mentioned before, my son’s unit in Iraq captured Soviet Bloc green brand new CBW combat suits east of Hindaya on the eastern bank of the Euphrates. You didn’t see that reported in almost any newspaper other than what I might have written (in several of my columns back in 2003), or in an occasional military publication article.

The Russians have used Thermobaric fuel bombs against the Ukrainians with terrible effect (it burns the soldiers alive like napalm). If you want to see what a fuel bomb is supposed to look like, see the Sylvester Stallone film “Rambo” about Vietnam (though the NVN didn’t have them during the war that I know of).

The Syrians are dropping these fuel bombs from helicopters and I’ve seen the films of them doing so.

Hope this helps to answer your inquiry.

Hafez Assad kept control of Syria. Bashar, not so much. His use of chemical weapons is consistent with his repeated resort to foreign troops to keep him propped up against civilians armed with little more than raw courage - he lacks both good judgment and political sense. And that is to be expected from someone who inherited his position. Kim Jong-un is a skilled political operator rare among hereditary rulers. But he is the exception to the rule. Bashar’s incompetence is more typical.

“Who exactly is expected to believe the latest evidence-proof accusation from the usual suspects?”

Exactly. Same globalist agitprop as during the Obama administration. The Nuremberg trials were a mere beauty contest when people like Kerry and McCain don’t fear the noose.

It’s easy to be a naive fool like yourself when you have nothing on the line. I will not allow your foolishness to cause a single additional American life to be lost.

We can also recall that the “world community”, League of Nations, United Nations and many other world bodies NEVER do anything except issue strongly worded statements or ineffective sanctions. We saw this in WWII and many times since.
President Obama SHOULD HAVE:

Supported Israel.
Alienated Turkey.
Supported Mubarak in Egypt.
Supported a stable Libya.
Supported Saudi Arabia in Yemen.
Helped overthrow the regime in Iran.
Limit the new USSR.
Limit Syria.
Limit Iran.
Limit North Korea,

So, instead we got, the Pilsbury Dough Boy, (can I still say “boy” without the wrath of the Politically Correct extremists?).

You have been reassessed as only quarter brained and with less than a shred of intellectual honesty. (Btw I am American.) For wasting time bashing on Germans. When our American brothers at the US State Department said...
reports suggested "a potentially high number of casualties", including families in shelters.

It said Russia - with its "unwavering support" for Syria's government - "ultimately bears responsibility" for the alleged attacks.

"The regime's history of using chemical weapons against its own people is not in dispute," it said in a statement.
