We do not need Israel’s permission. Screw them on this.

If they don’t like it, well, they could ask Russian for financial and military aid instead of us. They should, since their existence is pretty much based on our money and security umbrella, get on board and be supportive. Either they are with us or not. And not, I don’t really think then want to go there.

Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman on Sunday said US President Donald Trump did not ask for Israels view before announcing his planned withdrawal of American troops from Syria ... That's OK. Those troops are there illegally under U.S. law anyway.

Since when the hell does the United States need Israel’s permission for anything?

Israel’s interests do not coincide with ours in Syria. Assad is still the defender of Christians and other minorities. Israelis benefit from other govs in their neighborhood being destabilized. So do the Saudis.

So both Israel and Saudi Arabia want/need American troops there and for some insane reason we have taken the weight off of the Russians. I find it unbelievable that America accepted Obama holdover foreign policy. Maybe that is too simplistic but the question should be asked of why we are there and to what interest.

He's trying to get the best info possible on the situation and the viability of leaving - since staying was the presumed game plan, he wanted them to focus heavily on an exit strategy and consequences. He also wants to put supposed allies on notice that if they think something needs to be done they can get their own asses in gear.
It's what Trump does - sends up a flare and the moths flock to it to do his bidding when they really don't want to do it...like the "trade war tariffs", just the mention of possible actions, w/o any actual up front action, gets the little critters scurrying.
