I had it in ‘80. It was the start of my middle school years, and I missed the first week, but that was all. Not a real big deal.

The doctor then said no more tonsils. But I did not get them out until New Year’s (partly missed getting back to school again). No strep throat ever since (I had it alot) - and they don’t like to take tonsils out now!

My youngest had his adenoids taken out and I couldn’t understand why they wouldn’t take his tonsils too. He wasn’t having trouble with strep or sore throats but his adenoids were stopping his breathing in his sleep. Four kids and none of the rest got scarlet fever. Only once did all six of us get sick. The flu! I’m sorry I haven’t forgotten that! 😜
