I have an inherent aversion to conspiracy theories. But in my mind's eye I recall Jeff Sessions on that stage making news by putting on the red MAGA hat. Was it a long-shot insurance policy? Having Sessions join the Trump team so that he could request the AG spot as a reward for his loyalty, and then pay off his swamp rat friends by being a nonentity in the job?
