White House Chief of Staff John Kelly threatened to quit on March 28, according to sources familiar with the events.
What I'm hearing: Kelly blew up at Trump in an Oval Office meeting that day, and while walking back to his office muttered he was going to quit. Sources said it was not related to the David Shulkin firing that happened the same day.
A senior administration official said that calling it a threat was "probably too strong, it was more venting frustration." Kelly often says he doesn't have to be there and didn't seek the job originally.
Details:
Kelly packed up some personal belongings, though I'm told that wasn't necessarily because he was walking out. He was fired up enough that colleagues got allies to call in to calm him down. At one point DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen — perhaps the person in the administration he trusts most — came over to talk him off the ledge.
Context: Kelly has verbally threatened to quit more than once over the past eight months.
Why it matters: Very few people inside this White House feel secure or satisfied, given the wild, unpredictable mood and policy changes of Trump. Kelly months ago restored some order and sanity to the place but most of that is gone.

John Kelly swore back, stormed out of the Oval Office, threatened to quit and went home early!
Somebody please give Jeb! Bush his exclamation point back. Enough already.
All the breathless palace intrigue and tireless Washington rubbernecking is coming from a bunch of people whose only prayer in life is to see Mr. Trump fail.
And Mr. Trump is the one getting lampooned as some kind of reality-star soap-opera president running a dramafest White House?
You know what is far more pathetic than a reality-star soap-opera president who runs a dramafest White House?
All the loser reporters, wags and hangers-on who sit around and foment, obsess, speculate and consternate about a reality-star soap-opera president running a dramafest White House.
When there is this much noise and smoke and mirrors, the best thing to do is just look at the scoreboard.
And by “scoreboard,” I don’t mean poll numbers. Poll numbers are the currency of Washington politicians whose only goal is getting re-elected while stealing as much from the public till as possible without getting caught.
By “scoreboard” I mean actual accomplishments.

Nothing is ever as it seems at first.
Now Cohen is being investigated for Taxi medallions, money laundering and foreign relationships predating POTUS. Manaford will probably get off without damages & will sue. Ditto General Flynn. It takes some detachment and faith in POTUS & the White Hats but I wait a few days whenever one of these tempests hits to see how the situation is unfolding before worrying.
The Syrian situation is fluid. A lot of psych ops being played as the left realizes that many of them are going down and POTUS & the white hats hand them rope to hang themselves.
There were a boat load of people upset on the TV last night way more than me. Lou Dobbs, Laura, attorneys etc.
I think what you say makes sense, ie that they’ve got some things on Cohen that are independent of the president, but once they get into his stuff they find things on Trump.
I have hung in there with Trump from the beginning. Just when you think he’s going to cave he doesn’t, but it seems like the whole GD swamp is after him.
He’s our last great hope. And when I say our, I mean the whole world.
I think our greatest presidents were alone, and they did things because they were the right thing to do.

Every person in this photo outside of the Pres and VP are Obama leftist officers and every one should have been fired a year ago in an effort to clean up the mess in the military. They have presided over the internal destruction of the military through promoting left wing social experiments in the military and put career far ahead of country. I was a commissioned Army Field Grade Officer and think everyone of them should have been told to retire.
What really gets me is that your Attorney GEneral should have your back. Show me an attorney general who wasn’t first loyal to the president? None.
Sessions has to be squeaky clean on all accounts, but he won’t protect the president, even when the president is obviously innocent of wrong doing.
If he has the power to put an end to this, then he should right here and now, esp if he wasn’t informed of what Mueller was doing.
You don’t know what Sessions is doing....you only know what’s being ‘assumed’ he isn’t doing..and the howl of those complaining.
I don’t have to know what Sessions is doing or not doing. If you listened to Trump talk yesterday you got the keen impression that he’s just as much in dark about things as anyone.
Trump knows all about Sessions no matter which side one takes about Sessions.

For the most part I’ve stopped watching even the ones I used to like because of the constant hype. I watch segments of interviews linked on CTH & the twitter feeds I follow.
The whole swamp IS after him but they are greedy, and corrupt. It makes them stupid and tunnel visioned. They think everyone is like them so POTUS runs circles around them.
