Keeping Assad and Putin guessing, Trump would make Carl von Clausewitz proud........
Washington Examiner ^ | April 10, 2018 | Tom Rogan

First off, by waiting to strike, the U.S. keeps Syrian air defense forces in a state of very high readiness and forces Assad to continue guessing whether the U.S. knows where his high-value assets have been relocated.

At the tactical level (front line Syrian military units) and strategic level (Assad and his commanders), the U.S. approach here means significant stress and abundant fear. This matters because effective military force and strategy is largely determined by the ability of individuals to operate effectively. But if individuals are fearful and exhausted, their operability will suffer.

Even if marginally, this mitigates the threat posed to the U.S. and French forces who will carry out any strikes.

Waiting patiently with a looming prospect of likely strikes also allows other allies to consider joining military action.

Ultimately, Trump's approach here serves the strategic principles of surprise and security in pursuit of the looming offensive.

Assad and Putin know something is coming. But they don't know what that something will be, how it will be happen, or when it will occur.

We need to get assets into position.

The U.S.-led strikes into Syria could be more comprehensive this time

This is freaking nuts!

First of all, there is no verifiable evidence that Assad has ever used chemical weapons, and no logical explanation as to why he would use them.

Second, if Assad goes down, who replaces him?

An Iranian mullah?

An ISIS - Al Qaeda coalition government?

Syrian forces pose minimal threats to the outside world.

It's Iran we need to be worried about

There needs to be a massive coalition strike against Iranian Hezbollah and Revolutionary Guards forces to degrade their capabilities in Syria, Lebanon and Yemen to shut them down for a long time.

It’s not “nuts”. It’s a carefully laid out plan to justify a regime change war against Syria. A war that will lead to the genocide of Syrias Christians

There's only one way to be sure. Hans Blix, call your office!

"Second, if Assad goes down, who replaces him?"

Someone willing to grant transit rights to the Saudi/Gulf States gas pipeline.

verifiable evidence

Agreed, we need that. I can not believe that Trump would do anything more then something symbolic with out that. And by symbolic, I mean something akin to what they did last time; low cost bombing.

Repeat the lie often enough until everyone believes it.

“The Washington Examiner” is a RINO operation that smeared Roy Moore a hundred times over during the special election last year.

and now we’ve invited and justified a pre-emptive strike

yeah I’m sure Clauswitz would have loved that one

Why must it be a military strike, or escalated war?

Why not "maximum pressure" a-la N.K.? Looks like it's working there (so far), why not try that first with Syria?

Its the smart thing to do.

Iran has been stockpiling massive quantities of weapons and missiles in Syria, Lebanon and Yemen in anticipation of war against Israel and Saudi Arabia for many years,

Hezbollah has infiltrated, militarized and fortified pretty much the entire Lebanese/Israeli border for going on two decades and is in form control of the border region .

Iran has been expanding their border operations into the the Golan since the time Obama melted down the Middle East and is obtaining defacto control of the Gaza as HAMAS mismanagement takes it's toll

We need to take out the Hezbollah border fortifications and destroy their massive built up stockpiles of weaponry and missiles before they can be used to fight an offensive war

The longer Trump waits, millions more are seeking answers. Maybe Trump will seek answers before falling for this crap. I am stunned that he has not outed this lie before now. It is a disaster if he continues without evidence.
