Not at all. The gas is not used as a first-order weapon, targeted against the civilians who died. The gas is a propaganda weapon, designed to whip up war fever against Assad, when Assad is on the verge of crushing the Sunnis who are allied with the Saudis and Qatar. See my map above.
President Trump never announces his military plans. The fact that he is saying this tells me it will not happen.

If President Trump’s definition of Assad as a “Gas Killing Animal” is based on those videos released over the weekend, let me quote from Peter Hitchens February 25th column.

I guess Trump isn’t resisting because the Saudi backers of the Al Qaeda “gas attack victim videos” were his buddies doing the “sword dance” when he visited last year.
And the Saudi backers are investing in American infrastructure and buying American weapons.
So the “Foreign Legion of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia” led by Commander in Chief Donald J. Trump is about to unleash its missiles on Syria.
