As someone whose family, for a short period of time, relied on government assistance growing up (food coupons), I am going to say that welfare qualification is FAR too lenient. My first job working at a grocery store in a minority-heavy neighborhood confirmed that. The cars that these recipients drove were well above what working people could afford.

Welfare should be doled out judiciously to those who truly need it, on a temporary basis, and should only support a very spartan, subsistence lifestyle. Anyone with anything other than basic subscriptions, such as cable and phone service, should be disqualified. More than one vehicle owned should disqualify as well. Anyone who smokes are drinks on their own dime should be disqualified. Purchase of expensive hair extensions, car accessories (like ghetto wheels), and tattoos should also disqualify.

And some level of at least menial work should be demonstrated, even if it's picking up trash in their neighborhood.

from what you wrote, I’d say no cable tv subscriber. and I agree all these folks getting nails and hari done, tattoos etc and yet get food or other govt helps? no way, cut them off.

I don’t agree with them only getting certain brands or types food only because that is constantly putting dollars into a specific company’s pocket.

I’m sick of seeing the huge “feeding america” etc food bank trailers driving around daily knowing their are govt monies tied to them even if it is indirectly. Those industores used to be small but under obama they seemed to have become a huge industry.

I agree while collecting any sort of govt assistance people need to be working or documented voluneteering. I know too many people sitting around saying they can;t work when really they can be doing some thing productive for themselves, family, people around them...
