I would disagree with your statement. It's not cultivated, it's instinctive.
Look up scare pranking on Youtube. The "fight or flight" reflex seems to trend by race.

Prank scare a white adult male, he'll jump back, squealing. Prank scare a black adult male, and there is a HIGH likelihood you'll get a fist in the face. It's a reaction at the animal level.

I know, to point it out is racist.

The capacity to be easily offended is racial? We aren’t talking a response to being startled here. Martin wasn’t in any danger at all from a guy out of sight when he had left the area but chose to go back. This is representative of something cultivated. An attitude, not a reflex.
