Moscow will shoot down any U.S. missiles fired at Syria and retaliate against American launch sites, the Russian ambassador to Lebanon has warned.

Ambassador Alexander Zasypkin made the comments on Tuesday while speaking on the Hezbollah-affiliated al-Manar TV channel, Reuters reported.

President Donald Trump is currently considering military action against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad following Saturday’s suspected chemical attack on the rebel-held town of Douma near the capital city of Damascus. Medical relief groups say the attack killed dozens of civilians.

Time for Russia to stop stirring the ME pot. The “Russia Federation” is total BS. Putin is a KGB thug - always has been and always will be. And he still governs like it was the USSR - because it still is.

“They never served or have children serving now. “

That has to be irrelevant in consideration or else a junta runs the country.

(Thus comment has nothing to do with Syria).

The Russians claim that they shot down over half.

Our military says 58/59 struck their targets.

After eight years of Obama perfumed princes preaching social justice rather than actual ops, can we claim that as an advantage?

Well, Obama has done nothing good for the US Military, but they are still the best trained and best disciplined on the planet, and they have a large percentage of Honorable Men in their ranks, overall there are none finer.

Overall weaponry is very good and plentiful but not invincible.

But that does not mean the Russians haven't got $hit or haven't uptrained, modernized or haven't innovated some very lethal new stuff? They have, and part of this Syria support is field testing this stuff without giving away everything it will do.

The only way to really find out is to engage.

Time to put up or shut up.

Perhaps Russia will sink a ship. At that point, Americans have a choice. Stay out if Syria or escalate the war.

I figure Trump won’t do much if Russia stinks one of our ships.

Russia did not start the civil war in Syria.

The US did when we insisted on arming the ‘rebels’ (ISIS) to overthrow Assad so Qatar could build a gas pipeline to Europe.

If the US loses a ship or two after those ships attack Russian military units on the ground in Syria then we’d better be ready for when Russia decides to return the favor by invading the Baltic nations, bloodying Poland, or...?

One can easily beat the drums of war, when they have nothing on the line. Remember the great line from Sam Elliott portraying Gen. J. O. Buford in Gettysburg.

“Whole damn Reb army’s gonna be here. They’ll move through this town, occupy these hills on the other side, and when our people get here Lee’ll have the high ground, and there’ll be the devil to pay! The high ground! Meade’ll come in slowly, cautiously, new to command. They’ll be on his back from Washington. Wires hot with messages. “Attack! Attack!” So he will set up a ring around these hills. And when Lee’s army is all nicely entrenched behind fat rocks on the high ground, Meade’ll finally attack, if he can coordinate the army. Straight up the hillside, out in the open, in that gorgeous field of fire. We will charge valiantly... and be butchered valiantly! And afterwards, men in tall hats and gold watch fobs will thump their chests and say what a brave charge it was.”

And your sources who back up this assertion are?

Oh, that’s right - I forgot ...

You’re a member of the “expert” know-it-all club, here on FR, who call everything under the Sun a “false flag conspiracy” operation.

Let me guess - You’re a 911 “truther trooper” and a “chemtrail commander” too.

The conspiracy kooks have turned FR into a joke.

And after 2 1/2 years, they still only control a small portion of what was Syria.

And they've blown through their small stock of smart weapons and have to use older unguided munitions.

Well, let's see.. two possibilities here:

1. He does not do much as you suggest -- then he is toast. Might even get impeached. Democrats win the 2018 elections, and probably 2020 too.

2. He does respond. Balance in the US shifts toward the republicans, since more democrats live in the coastal areas, to be hit the hardest. GOP wins the 2018 elections... if such can be organized, of course, and this is doubtful.

Best not to get to this decision fork at all.

Perhaps. Perhaps, Russia will consider one ship lost to be warning enough.

“Life is risk.”

Yes, and the trick is to accept the ones you must and avoid the ones you can. This, based on what little we know, is a risk we can avoid.

Yeah, well we’re not Hitler’s Germany, and Putin’s Russia is not Uncle Joe’s USSR.

Try to keep things in their proper perspective.

I’m still trying to figure out why Assad can use chlorine bombs but not nerve agents. Kill 1000 with chlorine bombs and you receive a pass. Kill them with nerve gas and we bomb you.

We're there as an extension to Obama and Clinton's 'Arab Spring'...They destroyed Tunisia, Libya, and almost got away with destroying Egypt...After they wrecked Libya, they moved tons of stinger missiles and other arms to Al Qaeda in Syria to take out that somewhat stable gov't...So now, we're backing Al Qaeda to defeat Syria...

Don't forget the damage done to America's reputation after Obama's 'Red Line'.

Trump still has to prove that he's not Obama to the world.

Depends on the Russians and Putin.

If Russian soldiers die in these promised missile strikes then Russia may decide to hit the attacking fleet with a massive retaliatory strike.

They may also decide to hit US forces elsewhere, like in the Black Sea or the Baltic.

Chlorine is easier to manufacture with the infrastructure they have left.

You mean when Russia’s candidate, Comrade Soyboy Obuttfkr, became POTUS, and was “more flexible” at doing Vlad’s dealing?
