As Trump fumes, senators craft a bill to protect Mueller

Four senators — two Republicans and two Democrats — are taking a step to protect special counsel Robert Mueller's job as President Donald Trump muses about firing him.

Legislation offered on Wednesday by Republicans Thom Tillis of North Carolina and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Democrats Chris Coons of Delaware and Cory Booker of New Jersey would give any special counsel a 10-day window to seek expedited judicial review of a firing.

Does anybody else remember how all the dems in Congress had Bill Clinton’s back in the late 90s. It didn’t matter to them that he had sex with an intern in the Whitehouse. The Republicans in Congress that won’t support POTUS are despicable and deserve to be thrown out.

The United States Senate is the most corrupt governmental body in the history of civilization.

I don’t think they belong in the same sentence.

Impeach can happen anytime the opposition party is in the majority in the House. Hasn’t happened a lot, but it could happen frequently.

2/3 of the Senate is much more challenging.

Trump could get impeached with this bunch, if Democrats happen to get a majority in the House. But I doubt he will be removed. That will be much tougher.

It will matter, as much as it did with Clinton.

The only legitimate and effective conclusion to this nightmare is to indict Mueller on any of a number of charges including acting as an agent of Russia and receiving graft. That should stick like glue.

This is what happens when “drain the swamp” is only a campaign slogan. No one fears or respects you.

Well, what do you want Trump to do? He doesn’t have the power to get rid of those vermin - only publicly criticize them. He’s done that, and they clearly don’t give a rat’s ass. Hell, they don’t even mind exposing themselves for the bunch of anti-American, corrupt bastards that they really are - they think we-the-people aren’t going to do a damn thing about it, and they’re probably right.

Didn’t Myers v. United States settle the issue of presidential power to remove executive branch employees.

There is a very simple solution to this problem:

Have Jeff Sessions switch Cabinet positions with the Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen.

Both are already Senate confirmed, so there is no chance for Senators to obstruct. Nielsen has no ties to the campaign, served in the Bush administration, and received numerous government contracts under the Obama administration.

If Nielsen steps in at Justice, she will not be under any recusal, and thus will effectively strip Rosenstein of his oversight responsibility for the Mueller investigation, pushing Rosenstein back down to Deputy AG status. Then she can decide if she wants to keep him in her department staff altogether.

Nielsen can then begin to rein in Mueller, stop approving abusive witch hunt raids, and pressure Mueller towards a deadline.

List all the two-faced GOP not on the Trump Train and organize The Deplorables to work to get these bottom-feeders out of office.

If they feel a need to restrain Pres. Trump, then apparently such a law doesn’t exist already, in which case...fire away Mr. President if you believe this special counsel is going above and beyond the Constitution.

We hired you to uphold the Consitution! Me

“Could this not work in Trump’s favor? They pass the legislation and immediately Trump fires Mueller, exclaiming that he “looks forward to Mueller seeking the expedited judicial review of the firing”. And then trump’s attorneys lay out the case against Mueller they’ve been working on for quite a while.”

BINGO! It also takes away any claim of obstruction.
