Some believe that becoming upwardly mobile impedes religious practices as people think they don’t need God when they have all the stuff they need

The Pew Research center did a comprehensive study on this in 2016. The least likely group to be secular are Black Americans. Hispanics are very similar to White Americans in terms of religious trends.

Interesting. Churches are supposed to “look after their own”, at least - i.e. the household of faith should take of itself.

One of the great strengths of the Mormon Church, whatever else you think of them.

Yup. I imagine just about every church has it’s share of C&Es.

True. True charity was destroyed intentionally by the infiltration of all Christian churches (including the Catholic Church as Pope Piux X noted in 1907, as even Pastor Bonhoeffer noted when he came to America around 1930. He saw the elites like the Rockefeller family, literally buying (and controlling) the Riverside “Church” and plant his controlled puppet who was featured in all the “intellectual” circles (to control perceptions). Even on the cover of Time magazine and featured in all “religion” classes at Ivy League universities—as were all the pseudo-Christians, and irrational theology to flip 2000 years of ethics back to tribalism, materialism and slave cultures. Destroy Reason-—rational man—to create irrational people who have no conception of Truth (God), or Reality, so they are so ignorant they can’t even understand if they are a male or female-—total removal for reality for insanity-—useful idiots to be controlled and used as Lenin’s mobocracy and today’s university “students” who are unable of understanding Natural Law (our Constitution). They are programmed, warped “bots”, who were removed from the Natural family to be warped and mapped so they are incapable of free will (as Fichte planned—google 1810, “snow is black” quote).

The “God is Dead” crew (university mind controllers) took over everything by the 1970s so they could destroy the concept of “charity/true love” (Christianity) to normalize State slavery (socialism/lust/sodomy) in our little children and destroy the Natural Family (logic/reason) so “happy slavery” is the ONLY possible emotions for “thinking” for the ignorant, controlled, programmed Pavlovian masses.

It was all planned over 100 years ago by the God is Dead Lucifereans.

“One of the great strengths of the Mormon Church, whatever else you think of them”

Yeah, you don’t have to subscribe to their theology to appreciate how they live.

I respectfully disagree.

A HUGE part of the Mass is to spread the Word of God.
Spreading it in a language no one understands is
nonsensical and pointless.

Well, actually, hate to break it to you but it was the Protestants who did this, in the late 1800s with the progressive movement. Seeking (as all good Progressives then did) to make things “more efficient,” they thought it was inefficient to have so many different distribution points and sought to consolidate all charity under a number of auspices.

Ultimately, most of these “social gospel” types ended up favoring government because it removed the denominational battles.

http://www.pewforum.org/religious-landscape-study/religious-tradition/unaffiliated-religious-nones/

You can look at the data yourself. THe U.S. Population was 325.7 Million in 2017. Using the reported secular figure of 23% of Americans are secular-none, that means 74.9 Million Americans’ are secular. Of those 74.9, 68% are White non-Hispanic, 13% are Hispanic (including all races), 9% are Black and 5% are Asian (lowest). The White non-Hispanic population was 198 million, the Hispanic Population (all races) was 57.5 million, Black population 46.8 Million and Asian (all ethnic groups, Indian, Chinese, etc) was 21.4 Million in 2017. So that means 50.9 Million White non-Hispanics are secular (25.7%) and half of those are Catholic (former). 9.62 Million Hispanics (all races) or 17% of Hispanics are secular. 3.75 million Asians are secular or 17.5% of that demographic and Black American are the least secular Black as 6.74 Million or 14% of that demographic is secular.

So as I said earlier, Hispanics (all races) are trending similar to the White Non-Hispanic Demographic, as are Asian Americans. Black Americans, who are overwhelmingly Protestant, are the demographic to date least likely to be secularizing at increasing rates.

Living in the Southern U.S. all my life, driving to Mass on Sundays and passing other Churches, I have always observed the Black Churches are full (based on those leaving their Sunday worship services) and cars parked. My anecdotal evidence indicates the congregants are overwhelmingly Women. If they are Men there, they tend to be the older generation.

stanne:

Yes I was catechized properly, The Sacrament of Baptism removes Original Sin, provides Sanctifying Grace, makes one a member of the Church (Body of Christ) and leaves an indelible spiritual mark on the Soul. So in terms of eternity, a Baptized Catholic is always a Catholic of some sort, even if in the temporal world, they have went off to secularism or even a Protestant congregation.

In a way, it’s correct. The grounds for annulment prove that there was never a valid marriage, so you can’t get a divorce when you weren’t actually married.

I can attest to the progressives war on Charity/True Love. When LBJ set up his Great Society he assured us that no one would go hungry as the state would feed them. His VP was Hubert Humphrey. As a Minnesotan, I remember distinctly HHH talking about how ‘no one should have to accept Charity” - as though it was demeaning to accept help from people who loved them. HHH thought is better to get a handout from government.

It was so revealing that I never forgot it.

Raised Polish Catholic. But why would I attend a church headed by a Marxist Pope that aligns more with Satan than God?

Not being Catholic, it’s not my house to clean - but I feel for Catholic folks for having to endure him.

I think if you break out the “Protestant” category and look at Evangelical that number goes up.
