Radio host Art Bell – known for his conspiracy theories and interest in paranormal activity and UFOs – is dead, according to the Nye County Sheriff’s Department in Nevada. “Community Announcement — Long time resident, and radio show host, Art Bell died today at 72 years old in his home in Pahrump Nevada,” the Sheriff’s Department has announced on Facebook.
Few other details were provided. Sharon Wehrly, Nye County Sheriff, said that Bell passed away on April 13, 2018, adding that he was “best known for his conspiracy theories.” How did Bell die? That’s unknown, at least for now. He is scheduled for an autopsy later this week to determine the cause of death and was 72-years-old, the sheriff said in a videotaped press announcement. Yes, and he really was a great host and interviewer. Although I sometimes felt a little sorry for people who innocently called on the wrong line and were subsequently shut down, it was pretty neat when he either toyed with a heckler (masterfully) or vigorously shut down a hater.
We stumbled across his “Coast to Coast” show years ago and especially enjoyed the “Ghost to Ghost” each year. It was difficult to keep up with his multiple retirements and new shows but we tried.
Sad to see him go but I hope he does rest in peace.

Art Bell was seldom heard. When he was, found him fascinating. Usually sawing zzzzz when his time slot was on.

I thought that he was much older than that.
My 89 year old Mom listens to Coast to Coast AM every night. Its like listening to Mystery Theater. She loves it although I do not think Art Bell has done it for years. She has a very weird sleep schedule.
That is why you daytime talk radio, for the “ normal “ stuff.
