Radio host Art Bell – known for his conspiracy theories and interest in paranormal activity and UFOs – is dead, according to the Nye County Sheriff’s Department in Nevada. “Community Announcement — Long time resident, and radio show host, Art Bell died today at 72 years old in his home in Pahrump Nevada,” the Sheriff’s Department has announced on Facebook.

Few other details were provided. Sharon Wehrly, Nye County Sheriff, said that Bell passed away on April 13, 2018, adding that he was “best known for his conspiracy theories.” How did Bell die? That’s unknown, at least for now. He is scheduled for an autopsy later this week to determine the cause of death and was 72-years-old, the sheriff said in a videotaped press announcement. Here’s the short video press conference held by the sheriff:

Art was on what seemed like every station for years. Great show!

I suppose we should name a park for him here in the Kingdom of Nye.

Loved his shows except the call-in parts which were often.Still listen to him on Tune-in radio. Some great shows. Weird how he went out and his involvement with Dark Matter Radio with those claims of someone shooting at his home. Oh yeah Charlie that liberal in California was a real moron.

In recent years, there was some talk about someone “trying to get” Bell, which explained his on-and-off return to the airwaves.

I was really disappointed a few years back when he had announced that he was coming to XM Radio.

I bought an XM Radio for my mother who had been a fan for decades.

Shortly there after the deal with XM fell apart. Unfortunately, there was little else on XM to interest my mother. I had wasted a couple hundred dollars on radio and subscription.

Bell in his later years just seemed to have trouble dealing with people.

Art Bell lives on DogZebra radio.

His global warming theories were just plain nuts, he always used straw men to attack conspiracy theories he didn’t like, and many of his guests were fraudsters who should have been interviewed from a cold jail cell, but at his best he could keep a fascinating guest on point and provide wonderful new information.

His interviews of Terence McKenna were some of my favorites.

The Ed Dames interviews, on the other hand, were just embarrassing and a total waste of time.

R.I.P. Art Bell

“Ghost stories for adults” was how I thought of Coast to coast, but pretty entertaining radio while I stayed up late nights working on my Economics dissertation.... He was a unique and talented character.

He was quite a colorful character. I saw a picture of him when he was in NYC for a book signing tour, circa mid-90s.

He was decked out in cowboy boots and leather jacket. He towered over every one around him in the pic. Looked pretty toned as well. I read he was 6’2” and over 200 lbs.

You know I have this song that Some guy wrote for Art when he announce that he would be leaving his show for the first time.
Art actually made it available as direct download from his website. It is strange that it is nowhere to be found on the internet. But I still have it because it was pretty good. It is so fitting for this occasion as well because the name of the song is “Goodnight”. I just transcribed the whole song to text:

Richard C. found buildings on the moon
There’s Major Ed- some call him Dr Doom
Mel was Busy searching down his hole
And Malachi was trying to save our souls...

Like shooting Stars
and Campfire tales
the embers burn so Bright
But, Nothing lasts forever,
So GoodNight

Linda’s chasing circles in the crops
When Gordon’s on he pulls out all the stops
One voice in the desert knows them all
He rings the bell’ and rises to the call

Like shooting Stars
and Campfire tales
the embers burn so Bright
But, Nothing lasts forever,
So GoodNight...

But one good thing. If you check his twitter and facebook then you will find out that he was big Trump supporter.

>> He was so fun to listen to

Listened many, many years ago — radio like I never heard before. Halloween season was particularly entertaining.

With some crazy guests but still interesting enough to keep folks awake on a midnight drive.

Exactly. Art Bell and his guests kept American fiction and storytelling alive for people in the dark of the night. He turned boring hours into something entertaining.

I would love to hear some of the inside scoop on how guests were selected. Many appear real, and most seem to be hawking a book on the internet.

Fascinating show to listen to.

Love to get a collection of Art Bell’s best shows.

I think my favorite of Art’s guests was the Native-American naked Black Elk (IIRC).

Seems like it was “Red Elk”. I’m downloading the Youtube now so I can convert to MP3 and listen to in my car. Maybe I’ll wait to listen to it till I’m making a 4:00 AM trip to the airport...

If you can remember any other memorable episodes, I’d be much obliged... Thanks for posting.
