Blizzard conditions in parts of Nebraska leave several state highways impassable
Omaha ^ | 4/14/18 | Mara Klecker

A spring blizzard that brought heavy snow and whiteout conditions to much of western and central Nebraska has shifted to northeast Nebraska.

And if you think the Omaha area has avoided the snow, just wait a little bit. It's still coming, but it shouldn't cause nearly as much trouble as it has elsewhere.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for east-central and southeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa until 10 p.m. Additional snow accumulations of up to 2 inches and minor ice accumulations of are expected, the weather service said. Drivers should expect to encounter slippery roads.

Sorry, but from what I remember, a daytime prom would truly suck!

You still remember your thaw schedules?

Being sued is the least of their worries going forward. The first casualties of Armageddon are the lawyers.

Rather early for prom, ours were not until mid-May. We waited until it was staying warm.

Just as bad 50 miles north, also.

Uh, oh. Conflicting science? What should we do?

Logan view is on a hill over looking the Logan and Elkhorn valley. It is about eight miles from the nearest town, and about 20 to the nearest town of any size. The meal before prom was served by the sophomore class in the high school cafeteria. A lot of the local cooks would come in and make a decent spread.

I’m more curious about the post prom party put on by the booster club. We used to go to the Uehling auditorium and play casino games all night long. My senior year my Mom cooked most of my class breakfast.

Good times. Try to get back every once in a while. Moved away after college and never managed to get back. Have some family still living near the school, and I hunt deer every year a few miles away down in the valley.

One of my former co-workers, an astronomer by training, was a real AGW enthusiast. He explained such things as, “If you pump more energy into a system you get wider swings in the state of the system.”

Three options are clearly indicated to me here.

1) "You are not a knowledgeable climate scientist, but you are a racist."

2) "You are not a knowledgeable climate scientist, but you are a homophobe."

3) "You are not a knowledgeable climate scientist, but you are a white supremacist."

Take your choice....

LL: ‘thaw schedules’ .. am I being dense ?

RG, thanks for all that.
Best thing about weekends on FR is that folks are more likely to reminisce like that.
I grew up in little towns too, so can surely relate.

Dittos. I am stuck in the blizzard.

People sleeping on floors, power out, cars stuck in snow.

I was conceived in a blizzard. Grandpa used to call me “snow baby” as a kid.

Man, I miss Nebraska. Just cold and rainy here in occupied Iowa.

Here in St George UT

many of my Michigan senior softball buddies go out to your place in October for the Huntsman senior softball games.....

Several have been going out there for the past 18 to 20 years straight..........

Nothing but praise for the area, the weather and above all, the hospitality at all levels, especially the tournament. It's quite the attraction and everyone wants to return........

It was almost 80 degrees when I left Louisville, NE for Epply Airfield to pick up my son yesterday. They flew above the storms that hit western Iowa. Lots of turbulence.
Lots of wind and snow now.

The new Siberian Husky puppy loves it!

80 degrees, blue skies, a lazy on-shore Pacific breeze and a few wispy high clouds in S. California! ☺

The WEATHER is one thing... the POLITICAL CLIMATE is yet another.

You know,by now the global warming gang said there would be palm trees and alligators in Minnesota by now. Maybe in another fifty years.
