Pentagon Presented Trump With Plan To Take Out Russian Air Defenses In Syria, Report Says

Although the recent Syrian airstrikes were double the size of last year's, President Trump reportedly selected one of the more restrained proposals designed by the Pentagon.

The Wall Street Journal, citing unnamed sources, reported that Trump was presented with a wide array of options. There were intense discussions on the best approach after Defense Secretary Jim Mattis presented the three military options, the report said.

Trump chose a restrained response. The paper reported that the most expansive proposal included airstrikes on Russian air defense capabilities in Syria. The attack would have been three times the size of the operation carried out -- which included 100 advanced missiles launched at three targets.

Trump reportedly wanted his team to consider the strikes on Iranian and Russian targets, but Mattis resisted. Mattis reportedly warned of a possible Russian and Iranian response.

What is so restrained about attacking a country that was not attacking us or its neighbors — without an open examination of all the evidence before an impartial tribunal?

Extreme idiocy I imagine to make the “mere missiles” option look more measured.

Is the Pentagon crazy? Attacking Russian facilities and killing Russians would start a war. Trump must purge all Obama commissars and globalists from Government.

In a workman like manner, all options were presented.

It is their job to present options, not set policy.

AND, I reject your analysis.

“Trump reportedly wanted his team to consider the strikes on Iranian and Russian targets, but Mattis resisted. Mattis reportedly warned of a possible Russian and Iranian response.”

DJT asked for the strikes to be considered, NOT the Pentagon. He asked and they must present such a plan, but as you see, the Pentagon cautioned AGAINST it.

Preparing and proposing multiple options for military actions is nothing new.

Its too bad someone leaked this, since it obviously was not the option chosen.

The WSJ are either using the same sources as former VIPS member and Lyndon LaRouche’s follower Col. Pat Lang, or they are using Lang himself as their source. He’s the one who first came out with this meme the other day, which for some reason that side of the aisle must want this spin to be a big deal if they shopped this meme to the WSJ, too. CBS will probably push it next...

Pat Lang has written for Russia Today.

As a side note the Moscow dinner for the RT awards that Jill Stein and Flynn attended, where they were seated at the same table as Putin... had another guest seated at the table with them. That was VIPS’ Ray McGovern, the guy who helped propel the Valerie Plame leak controversy that ended up smearing Scooter Libby over the leak from Colin Powell’s office, his aide Armitage.

It’s also possible this is misdirection purposely leaked by the Whitehouse. The purpose perhaps being to put Russia, and more importantly Iran on notice that the POTUS will not tolerate a counterattack on our forces in Syria.

Sure. Its how they present it and sell it. German General Staff to Hitler: Let us show you this “blitzkrieg” concept our war gamers devised......”. Sorry but given Trump’s known impulsiveness That option was volatile and not in the best interests of the American people. A single bad decision in this era of hair trigger weaponry can start a war.

This article is most likely Russian spin to begin with- or at minimum prop from Colin Powell’s old State Dept buddies. It started with Pat Lang’s blog [http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/3647593/posts]. The WSJ picked it up. Lang’s a LaRouchie.

They’re pretty good slipping their stuff into the mainstream, the Powell/state dept people involved in the Valerie Plame tale of woe pulled it once before using Japan Today to seed a story about Powell’s office into the main stream using a source called “Wilkerson” and the editor of Cap Hill Blue, IIRC.

This is the WSJ, the same WSJ that gave us Glen Simpson of Fusion GPS and its other cofounder.

Oh, come on. War with Russia will be FUN!!! Sure we might lose a few cities and be sent back to the Stone Age with their EMPs, but what the hell, this high-tech life is really BORING.

...right, you Neocons out there?

Note to POTUS: When such meetings are held it should be stated to everyone in the meeting that the entire meeting and everything said in it is top secret, and if any word of the meeting gets out someone is going to be fired.
