And the Democratic Party frontrunner for president in 2020 is...uh-oh

As unpopular as Donald Trump is, as much as he's hated by Democrats, and as much as he is a target of the media, the president may well win a second term in 2020.

Why?  Polls show that the frontrunner for the Democratic nomination for president in 2020 is former vice president Joe Biden.

Biden has been running for president since at least 1988.  He will be a few days short of 78 years old on election day in 2020.  That he is the frontrunner says a lot about the Democratic Party, even in the age of Trump.

Politico:

What Biden should be asking is whether the party wants him, and not just whether he should seize his last chance.

His advanced age – Biden would be 78 years old at the time of his swearing-in – isn't the main obstacle.  While Biden's age would be a nonstarter in most presidential elections, if he continues to appear hale and hearty it would not be an insurmountable problem against Donald Trump, who would be 74 himself in 2020.

Trump would also provide cover for another often-discussed Biden drawback: the overly familiar mannerisms that seem terribly out of place in the #MeToo era.  Next to Trump's "Access Hollywood" tapes and the litany of sexual misconduct charges levied against the president, Biden's hands-iness barely registers.

The bigger issue is whether there's a place for him atop the Democratic Party that's taking shape after the ruinous 2016 election cycle.  This new iteration is unsentimental and unforgiving, and Biden has more than a few conspicuous Senate votes that demand a reckoning in the Trump-era Democratic Party.

Presently, I would rate Harris as one of the top three. This mayor from LA....Eric Garcetti...will be running as well, and might be the 2020 ‘Obama’. I think his problem will be that he’s a mayor of a bankrupt town. Bernie will likely round out the top three, and probably take 15 of the states in the primary system.

This is an exercise in raw power, by Biden. He gropes and paws at women and children, and their families stand right there and allow it to happen. All while grinning happily, I might add - except for the victims.

Sleezeball politician gropes my kid, and there's a "diplomatic incident", right there, on the spot, in front of the cameras.

“Harris from CA.”

Aside from political considerations, that woman has no charisma.

She is easy to dislike, and hard to like.

Just to be clear, if POTUS Trump is not Reelected and ANY DEMONcRat gets into the White House, the Constitution will be nullified and the Republic is doomed.

The Democrat Party of today is not the Democrat Party of Truman, Kennedy or Humphrey.

And Hunter Biden’s position with Ukrainian Burisma (and JB’s hasty visit to the Ukraine right afterwards) will haunt him during his campaign. So please, Run Joe, Run!

Keep your hands down and stop pointing.

She makes Hillary Clinton seem approachable and likable.

[qualifier - i do live in downtown Seattle]

It is amazing how many women and metrosexual males have heard off, and claim to like Harris.

Their filter is on - as they think she is a fighter - and they dont care if she is harsh or less than smart.

The Fondler from Delaware will be days short of his 78th birthday in the next presidential election.

Let us all wish him good health, physically and mentally.

I still wouldn't rule out Jeb running as a Democrat. He might win that way - (D)'s pull the lever for whoever's on the ticket, and Bush might peel off enough NeverTrumpers from the (R) party to win.

What have you been smoking this morning? Starbucks will have 75 stores on Jupiter before any Democrat is even going to THINK about pulling the lever for somebody with the last name Bush.

Have you forgotten how much they hate this guy?

It’ll come out when he is more useful as a Weinstein than a political opponent.

” They’ll pull another Barack Obama out of their arse. “

Biden is nothing but a place holder, representing their version of “gravitas” (smirk) until which time they can find a younger facist to continue the collapse America.

Biden didn’t make it in the past.

A Bing search indicates he’s not ruling out another try.

There isn't always an available and electable Black (or Latino) candidate.

There won't be any this time, either.

Old white guys manage to get elected mayors of majority-minority cities even now.

One thing for sure, though: the ticket won't just be two old White guys.
