“Targeting legal prescriptions is thus unlikely to reduce overdose deaths, but it may increase them by driving more users to illegal sources.”
Yep. (Over)Regulation is not the answer.
Cities with the most draconian gun laws like Chicongo, DC, Balt'more, LA, San Fran are...
Wait...What?
Never mind....
I've seen excruciating pain reduce great, strong men (dad and FnL) into whimpering weaklings.
Have they not learned that when you over regulate medications, people will just seek them through the black market. How many times do we have to repeat this nonsense?
It will spike Suicides as Intractable/Chronic Pain patients find themselves going for somewhat functional to bedridden or wheelchair bound.
And then no one address the side effects of pain medication on the GI tract. Just give orders for Miralax or Linzess.
Having a RUINED GI tract, I can rarely take a opioid, my main pain control is for Fibromyalgia and Neuropathy from a Degenerative Spine. Which just keeps getting worse as there is no surgery or med for it that isn’t ADDICTIVE and full of SIDE EFFECTS. Lyrica/Neurotin were A-Fib ER trips and are very addictive. 13 drug reactions, until Valium was tried. Now the idiots want to take it away. I don’t share, I don’t OD, and I sure as hell don’t leave them out for the grands to get into. 308 Pain Clinics in TN shut down in 1 day, left 66 for entire state.
Nor do they know how to treat these diseases takes a Neurologist.
The maker of OxyContin tried to make it harder to misuse. It may have led to more heroin deaths.
