Incredible Anti-Gun Bill Introduced in MN

Posted March 1, 2018 in Legal Issues by with No Comments

mn-state-legislature

If you live in Minnesota, be afraid. Be very afraid. Then get busy.

A nasty piece of gun control legislation called HF 3022 has been introduced, and it is hell on gun rights. Not only does it restrict just about everything related to firearms, it also makes gun owners’ information public, as in how many guns you own and of what type, and your home address.

A Facebook post by AccuTac Arms, which calls itself “the largest stocking dealer of NFA items in Minnesota,” sums it up like this:

For everyone in MN.

Here it comes

HF 3022 is now in the Legislature

– Permit required to own a gun
– Permit required to buy a gun
– Permit required to sell a gun
– Local law enforcement gets to deny all types of gun permits
– Local law enforcement gets to deny permits to carry
– Personal medical information must be shared with law enforcement
– All firearm transfers must be reported
– All guns must be registered (fees set by local law enforcement)
– Registration must be renewed annually
– Local law enforcement may conduct warrantless “safety inspections” of gun owner’s homes
– Local law enforcement sets “safe storage” policies
– Five day waiting period for all transfers
– Transfers must be done through an FFL (even between private parties)
– Fees may be charged for transfers
– Local law enforcement may conduct background investigation on transfers
– Total ban on any gun which meets broad “assault weapon” definition – banned guns must be destroyed or surrendered
– Ban thumbhole stocks
– Ban adjustable stocks
– Ban pistol grip stocks
– Limit fixed magazine capacity to 7 rounds
– Ban any magazine capable of holding more than 7 rounds
– Suspension of gun rights based on complaints from anonymous parties
– Recriminalization of suppressors
– Bump stock ban
– All ammunition sales will be registered
– Permit required to purchase ammunition

Almost forgot an important thing —

HF 3022 would also make gun owner private data public. This would include:

Number and type of guns you own
Your address

Anyone think that’s okay?

If you haven’t joined the Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus, please do.

Yikes!

If this becomes law, folks in California can at least bask in the knowledge that they’re no longer living in the most anti-gun state in the USA.

You can read the entire text of HF 3022 here.

It seems unlikely that it will pass, especially as is, but it is still a huge threat — and a clear example of anti-gunners’ end goal: The destruction of civilian gun ownership in the USA. One big hurdle is that it violates HIPPA privacy laws by requiring citizens to give their medical information to law enforcement entities before they can purchase a gun. It also opens the door (pun intended) to warrantless searches of citizens’ homes.

It also bans “assault weapons” and requires owners to surrender or destroy them without compensation.

MN residents need to mobilize and fight this at all costs. Check out the Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus here.

The current status on March 1, 2018 according to this site is that it was introduced on February 26, 2018 and referred to “Public Safety and Security Policy and Finance.”

“The SC won’t even hear most gun control cases. They punt on first down.”

We need one more dependable conservative on the court before we chance a bad ruling. If Kennedy retires and Ruth Buzzy takes the dirt nap, you will see a case heard in short order.

>A bunch of stupid laws that do NO good. Idiots.

No, it’s doing just as it was intended: Making the ‘law’ so egregious that We the People refuse to utilize our 2nd A. Rights

“...Washington state that requires a $25 transfer fee - both ways. Also does not exempt gunsmiths - some of them only work on known customer’s guns now being in fear of entrapment...”

Arm yourself, every criminal out there (politicians included) will be casing you homes.

No they (criminals/politicians but I repeat myself) will not because no one in their right mind will comply with this so called law. They won't know where the guns are because almost no one will register.

We here in Missouri will be happy to smuggle ammunition to you. You'll have to take care of clearing your own nest.

There are a bunch of moderate RATS in MN who I have told that CA type laws are coming to MN and coming fast.
None of them believed me.
This should be very interesting to watch.

Technically, mp Kimber 1911 is an Assault Weapon
Yes RAT hunters in MN and WI are finally going to have to decide.
Are they going to continue blindly to follow their parents party or are they going to finally wake up and see the real world.

“No they (criminals/politicians but I repeat myself) will not because no one in their right mind will comply with this so called law.”...........

I would NOT be surprised it the bill DID pass so NEVER say “Never”.........We’re talking about Minnesota here.

I am originally from Minnesota several years ago, it was a fairly good place to live but the liberals have completely taken over, few of them are in their right mind when it comes to guns. Now living in Wisconsin, I can see a mass human movement in our direction should all the liberals lose what is left of their minds. Like I said, “NEVER say never”.

So, the M1 Garand is now an “assault weapon” as is the classic 1911 pistol.

“There is NO ACCOUNTABILITY for these totalitarian cretins.”

You are correct. We need to treat them the same as they do us.

Her (figures) name is Linda Slocum. She’s a defeminized female who looks like she ought to be more concerned with banning junk food than guns. I’m on a device or I’d post her hideous, bloated image.

This doesn’t have a chance of passing. However it exposes the true agenda for all to see, the masks are off.

Everyone here who publicly said they were ok with bump stock bans owns some responsibility for this.

This is why you don’t give an inch. I’m sad much of FR wasn’t capable seeing that because we of all people should know better.

The trouble isn’t over even if this bill in MN is stopped. What’s the NRA to do now? If it continues to support Trump it demonstrates its political irrelevance. What happens then? If it doesn’t support Trump we get a grabber in office in 2020. What happens then?

This is why the people who said bump stocks were not the hill to die on were wrong and the NRA was wrong. “Oh we don’t want to spend political capital on a stupid toy!” Bzzzzt. Wrong. You threw away political capital trying to score points with people who would shove you into ovens in death camps if they had their way.

For all that people said that bump stocks were not the hill to die on, an awful lot of Americans in Florida, Vermont, and now maybe Minnesota are dying on that hill.

You all should’ve fought when it might’ve made a difference. Now we are going to claw and scratch to just stop the tide and reduce the damage. We will be damned lucky if we escape this with our political relevance intact.

I would say I’m sorry if I offended anyone but...well, I’m not.

The conservative tent is fairly large and encompasses a lot of issues. This only works if we support each other, and right now, the conservative movement’s friendship towards gun owners appears to be of a fair weather nature. Even among conservatives picking on 2A voters is socially acceptable.

There are a lot of very pro-2A people who’ve been saying that the GOP are not our allies and neither are most conservatives. So far, nothing has happened to disabuse the 2A people of that notion. Trump’s insistence on legislating bump stocks by executive fiat contrary to clear wording of federal law, as if he were some kind of king, is not helping.

There are some real cracks starting to show in the base and most of those are self inflicted. ***Stop trying to throw them a bone. It will not placate them, it will make them worse***

It’s very simple: if you don’t care about our issue we will STOP caring about yours. And then we shall all hang separately as Mr Franklin once said.

As gunowners, WE cannot pick and choose which battles we intend to fight. We must fight them all. Using the soap box, the ballot box and when all else fails, the cartridge box.

Compromise gets us nothing, and emboldens the antis to reach further.

The first state to adopt an abomination like this, is the last breath of a constitutional government.
