I suspect that he was not typical but one of the finest people I have ever known was from Ghana. His family was prominent and he was attending college in Texas.

He once told me that his Black room mate was pure evil. Constantly planning and plotting to do some evil thing. He was also very conservative and planned on returning to Ghana and trying to push conservative values.

I have wondered whatever happened to him.

I currently am in Sierra Leone and I can tell you almost exactly what probably happened to your friend.

Went back to Ghana to try and fix things, got a massive amount of pushback from the government, his tribe, his family and his friends; then gave up and moved back to the USA.

Young men who want to be pastors are sent to the USA, get their education, then get so much grief from all of these entities which I listed that they accept the first offer from some USA church to be their pastor. Because their friends, relatives and government officials expect them to bring back money and give it to them. If they do not, they are ostracized, ridiculed and discriminated against.
