No you wouldn't. Egyptians and Turks use to be terrible.
Egyptians find out if they were scared of spiders or snakes and then would use their scorpions or snakes on their victims....let the poison linger ...and then give them antivenin.
The Turks would place you in a chair for hours or days facing a wall with a small step ladder leaning against a list:
Little finger
Little toe
Ear
nipple
Next finger other hand
next toe other foot
eye
next finger
next toe
testicles
hand
nose
remaining eye
etc.... After a few beatings, and no words EVER exchanged (they practiced silence), a well dressed man would walk in, set the step ladder up, mark off the top: little finger, put the ladder up, and produce a shear and chop off the little finger and then walk away. Not one word was said, no questions asked.
Victim would sit there for hours....and in comes the man again to repeat the steps above....in silence.
Turks told me they don't do this anymore, but they never got very far down on the list because they were spilling their guts by then.
