... a fracture of the ball joint in her left shoulder. She hurt herself in a fall at home on Monday.

A nasty fracture. I had two fractures in my right shoulder (but not the ball joint) from a fall a few days before Christmas 2016. No surgery was required but a full shoulder restraint was required for six-weeks. It requires assistance for everything except eating and writing (if left handed). I recovered and now have full motion but as a single man needed in-home help for dressing, washing, bathing, etc. It was very embarrassing to be treated as a complete invalid.

Though I disagree with her positions, I do wish her a speedy recovery.

It sounds like she’s a brittle diabetic. (No pun intended). They usually don’t live to a ripe old age. A broken shoulder is much more complicated in the type of diabetic such as she is. She is 63 years old. A brittle diabetic’s lifespan is about 20 years less than normal. She obviously takes good care of her health, which is vital for brittles, but it wasn’t too long ago that she had an episode of low enough blood sugar that she passed out. I don’t agree with her politics, but she has achieved a lot for someone with her type of diabetes. It’s not unusual for brittles to have frequent hospitalizations. I pray she lives a full, rewarding life, but she will probably have to retire soon.

She doesn’t sound safe to be living by herself, if she is.

That fall she had was the second time in three months 911 has been called to her home. The first was for a low blood sugar.

Being in your mid 60’s and living alone can be the start of serious problems but when you’ve been diabetic for over 50 years it doesn’t make sense.

Could we try to be less nasty with these comments?

Sure she’s another dingbat liberal judge but that doesn’t make it okay to make such cruel remarks. She’s clearly unwell and needs care.

That’s what most of us are saying.

She needs to take care of herself, which involves stepping down as a judge.

I agree with your first sentiment because unlike the looney lefty in California I'm not going to stomp on someone's grave, but boy oh boy do I hope your statement about retiring is true!!!!
