There is a movement going on in some circles of evangelicalism to embrace the stupidity of liberalism and reject conservatism.

Gospel is Gospel, but some of these “leaders” look smug disdain on anyone who SUPPORTS social and fiscal conservatism as an application of their faith.

Beware.

Seeker sensitives...guys like Andy Stanley and Rob Bell. They're abandoning scripture. Rob Bell said that as long as the church insists on relying on letters that 2,000 years old it will never move forward in the modern world. That was in response to a question from Oprah about when the Christian church will finally get around to accepting gay marriage. He and his wife are fully onboard now. Andy Stanley did a whole sermon called "Because the Bible Tells Me So" that mocked Christians reliance on the Word of God for seeking Truth.

Tim Keller is a good preacher and writer. I own a couple of his books (like “Reason for God”) and he has helped spread the Gospel in the darkness of New York City. He is a good man.

My criticism comes in when the web site he founded with Don Carson (an outstanding Biblical scholar) begins to embrace a modified but unmistakable liberal world view when it comes to cultural issues.

If anyone remembers the so-called “Emergent Church” movement from a free a few years ago in evangelicalism, they’ll recall it was a very thinly disguised hard left political agenda. The Gospel Coalition seems to be trying to go between the leftists in that group and those of us who are strong conservatives. TGC doesn’t promote sinful lifestyles or advocate for abortion, etc. Yet it also takes veiled or not so veiled swipes at people who suggest racism can be the fault of people with white AND black skin. Also in the crosshairs? Christians who believe Donald Trump is doing a good job. Somehow we aren’t supposed to be pleased with him, even though TGC authors (there are several) will grudgingly acknowledge Hillary was a bad choice.
