As one of his first acts as president, Donald Trump signed presidential memoranda to revive both the KeystoneXL and Dakota Access pipelines by expediting the environmental review process. The Dakota Access pipeline is now in full operation. TransCanada’s annual report gives us an update on the Keystone XL pipeline.

Construction to begin in 2019 and completed in two years.
My own observation is that a pipeline lies much softer on the landscape than a wind farm. Politics are the only factor that sways the preference for the latter rather than the former. Bring on the pipeline and let the antelope play and the birds sing with fewer swing blade monsters on the prairie.
Last April we drove back on 395 from LA to Reno. The wind farms in socal were YUGE and a definite eye sore. And, probably half of them weren’t turning.
I haven’t driven 395 in 35 years...that is horrible news that it is ruined with those damned infernal eyesores. This country is nuts, trading away its magnificent scenery and vistas for crappy, unreliable, spotty power that kills eagles and other raptors by the hundreds of thousands and drives out long-time ranchers with the nonstop thrummmp-thrummmp-thrummmp.
Saw some off of 93 in eastern Nevada where it turns off to 50. I mean that’s in the middle of NFW and up they popped. Only a few but a few to damn many.
In March 2017, the U.S. Department of State issued a U.S. Presidential Permit authorizing construction of the U.S./Canada border crossing facilities of the Keystone XL project. We discontinued our claim under Chapter 11 of the North American Free Trade Agreement and withdrew the U.S. Constitutional challenge. Later in March 2017, two lawsuits were filed in Montana District Court challenging the validity of the Presidential Permit. Along with the U.S. Government, we filed motions for dismissal of these law suits which were denied on November 22, 2017. The cases will now proceed to the consideration of summary judgment motions.
I am still bothered that such projects come down to the approval of a single individual.

Oh hell yes. We need to get this sucker built as fast as possible. Once its in place, the envirosocialists won’t be able to get it stopped. We need to achieve complete energy independence (other than imports from Canada). Then we will be completely free to bring the boys home and tell everybody else its not our problem if the Straits of Hormuz get blocked or the entire Middle East erupts in war and oil production there grounds to a halt. Let somebody else deal with that mess.
There are very few if any wind farms that could survive with out our tax money.....Like ethanol....
I’ve read that turbines are much more efficient today. They are now as tall as the Eiffel tower and in a few years much taller.
