I think that the post-17th Amendment (17A) ratification, anti-Trump Senate RINO majority may be giving us procedural smoke and mirrors concerning Pompeo.
More specifically, a constitutionally enumerated difference between the voting power of senators versus representatives is this. With the exception of constitutional enumerated supermajority vote requirements on specific kinds of votes, senators are uniquely guaranteed one vote.
”Article I, Section 2, Clause 1: The House of Representatives shall be composed of Members chosen every second Year by the People of the several States, and the Electors in each State shall have the Qualifications requisite for Electors of the most numerous Branch of the State Legislature."
(No guarantee of one vote per representative like senators have.)
”Article I, Section 3, Clause 1: The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, chosen by the Legislature thereof, for six Years; and each Senator shall have one Vote [emphasis added]."
In other words, I suspect that this constitutionally undefined committee vote is basically giving anti-Trump majority RINOs a politically correct way to stop Pompeo, regardless that the procedure nullifies the one vote per senator guarantee imo.
