One of the most electrifying moments of the 2018 Winter Olympics came when American cross-country skier Jessie Diggins surged from behind in the final seconds to win gold for her and teammate Kikkan Randall in the team sprint.
It was a gutsy feat.
Future Olympians may not get a shot at the dream Diggins achieved in PyeongChang. Thats because climate change is warming our winters, reducing our snowpack, and shortening our seasons - all changes that make it difficult to participate in snowsports.
Diggins and four other winter Olympians - Stacey Cook, Arielle Gold, Maddie Phaneuf, and David Wise - will raise their concerns about climate change Wednesday on Capitol Hill. At a briefing, hosted by Sen. Michael Bennet and Sen. Susan Collins, the athletes will share their concerns about the impact that climate change is having on winter sports and outdoor recreation.
To be an Olympian, one must be bold, daring, and willing to push beyond their comfort zone. Whether dropping into a massive halfpipe, nearing 90 miles per hour on a downhill course, or powering uphill, skating on skis, Olympians are driven to win. Now Olympic athletes fight to preserve a world where future generations of winter athletes and enthusiasts can pursue their passions and their dreams.

Stop the presses. The Brain Trust is about to speak.
Will they be under oath?
Steroids are not as important as a trillion dollar fraud slush fund.
Record snowfall this past winter. Snowiest April on record for the entire state. I still have a snow bank in my yard. Yesterday was the first time it got above 65 degrees here in six months!
Shorter winters my a**!
The United States has become a place where entertainers and professional athletes are mistaken for people of importance.
QUOTES by ROBERT A. HEINLEIN
Robert A. Heinlein Quotes and Sayings!:
[T]here seems to have been an actual decline in rational thinking. The United States had become a place where entertainers and professional athletes were mistaken for people of importance. They were idolized and treated as leaders; their opinions were sought on everything and they took themselves just as seriously-after all, if an athlete is paid a million or more a year, he knows he is important ... so his opinions of foreign affairs and domestic policies must be important, too, even though he proves himself to be ignorant and sub-literate every time he/she opens his/her mouth.
— Robert A. Heinlein
Weren’t several events delayed at the Olympics’ this year because it was too cold?. Sounds pretty wintery to me, but I’m from Texas we don’t have winter, oh wait, it snowed Twice this year in Houston of all places and had an ice storm (at least for Texas.
I have a friend who loves to sit on the beach and tan, therefore I consider her an expert on coronal mass ejections and the subsequent increase in free electrons in the ionosphere. Naturally.
Someone should ask these athletes one question. How did the climate scientists say they were going to fix global warming? I have yet to hear how the scientists plan to fix global warming or climate change. I have heard how much it will cost and how they plan to raise the money, but nothing about fixing the problem.
Frig'n idiots
It snowed in D.C. a little over a week ago. I hope it snows again tomorrow.
Here is the article about the parade they had for Jesse Diggins on April 12th of this year. Two weeks ago. DURING A BLIZZARD!
My buds and family in Vancouver told me there’s a lot more days to ski this year than a year ago. Nice to know these idiots rep my country at the Olympics but I would prefer these idiots just STFU about other matters..
Its been snowing all day here in Longmont, Colorado.
A bunch of whiners. Never heard the Jamaican bobsled team complain.
As I look out my window today I see ... snow.
Hey, those are just the facts. They don’t count in the mind of a liberal.
Now why is there even a winter Olympics if we’re all going to die from global warming? The propaganda never stops with these people.
Yes, they delayed the Men’s Downhill and several other downhill events because of high winds.
The problem with the Winter Olympics is that they keep having the event at places that do not have consistent snow pack. The 2014 Russian Sochi games was the worst. In 2010 Vancouver had a warmer than normal winter. The 2022 are in BEIJING. Go back to having the games in places like Salt Lake City, Calgary, Lake Placid, Innsbruck, St. Moritz or Oslo where they actually have snow and mountains.
