Watergate Prosecutor on MSNBC: Why Did Hannity Retain Cohen “If Nothing Wrong?”
FinkelBlog ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 04/24/2018 4:27:51 PM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

A first-year law student making this argument would have gotten a big, blazing “F” . . .

On Ari Melber’s MSNBC show this evening, a former Watergate prosecutor—demanding that Sean Hannity be investigated—actually suggested that Hannity’s occasional use of the services of attorney Michael Cohen is evidence of wrongdoing.

Said Nick Akerman:

“The person who really ought to be investigated is Sean Hannity! He’s the person whose name was brought up on the Cohen search warrant as a client. Why did he even offer himself up as a client if there was nothing wrong?”

So Hannity talking with a lawyer is proof of his guilt?

What does it say about Watergate that one of the prosecutors would make such an absurd argument?

Ping to Liberal Media Criticism list.

Shouldn’t Hitlery Rotten Clinton herself be appearing a pundit? She worked on the Watergate coup...

Since he talked to Cohen who talked to Trump, Sean is guilty. Of what, we don’t know yet, of course.

Hear the cuckoo bird sounds in the distance?

Those are the sounds of the rare, hatched-in-October-1917, leftist cuckoo bird.

IMHO

Akerman’s assertion stands on its head the most fundamental notions of justice. Everyone is entitled to legal representation—including, most importantly, the innocent! Even leaving aside the fact that Hannity has said that he largely consulted Cohen on real estate matters, Akerman’s suggestion that retaining counsel is proof of culpability is an obscene misrepresentation of the law.

That Akerman was a Watergate prosecutor speaks volumes about the partiality of that prosecution. The only thing worse would have been if Hillary Clinton herself had been on the Watergate prosecution team. Oh, wait.

Note: to his credit, host Ari Melber expressed incredulity at Akerman’s ridiculous suggestion. Said Melber: “there’s no allegation of impropriety just for having a lawyer.”

“”

That would be no none of anybody else’s business. Why someone spoke to a lawyer.

But based on these standards can we raid Hillary’s lawyers? She constantly uses attorneys to do dirty work as a cover.

Lawyers keep calendars.

I've visited attorneys but we just had conversations. Never hired them. Just friends....lunch, dinner...

This Akerman is either stupid or senile, maybe both.

According to Hannity he never retained Cohen for anything.

I guess everyone who hires a tax accountant should be investigated for tax fraud. After all, hiring a professional is prima facie evidence of wrongdoing!

Why did he even offer himself up as a client if there was nothing wrong?”

He's lying. He is just blowing it out his butt knowing this is advice no lawyer in his first year of practice would give.

But, he figures low information voters might buy it and he knows no urinalist at PMSNBC would ever call him on it.

They’d be happy hanging Hannity tonight for his crimes against the oligarchy. But Hillary Clinton can cheat, lie, murder, and commit countless crimes against our service members and citizens and they don’t have any problem.

And Obama never had a social security number, faked his Selective Service form AND his birth certificate, thus he is not an American citizen save for a ceremonial passport given him when he was a US Senator, but no crime there! Sure, he could run and serve as president. Twice.

But Sean can’t invest in real estate! How dare he try! Why, I bet he even tore the Do Not Remove By Penalty Of Law tag off his mattress!

Coincidence that Hannity is the only person on tv telling the truth about these usurpers?

An attorney says that talking to an attorney proves guilt? I wonder how that would fly if the prosecution used that to get an indictment. “Well he did retain an attorney” Judge: “Warranted granted!”
