Exclusive: Ted Cruz Endorses Donald Trump in 2020
Breitbart ^ | 25 Apr 2018 | ROBERT KRAYCHIK

Posted on 04/25/2018 10:12:22 AM PDT by conservative98

during a Tuesday interview with SiriusXM hosts Rebecca Mansour and Joel Pollak on Breitbart News Tonight. Mansour asked Cruz, “Would you be supportive of President Trump if he ran for reelection in 2020?”

Cruz replied, “I certainly assume so. I was supportive of and campaigned for President Trump in 2016, and I am very encouraged with the substantive policy victories we are getting, whether it is an historic tax cut bill, whether it is regulatory reform that’s unleashing jobs, whether it is repealing the Obamacare individual mandate — which I led the fight to do in the United States Senate — whether it is nominating and confirming strong constitutionalists to the courts. On all of those fights I’ve been working to lead the battle. I’m content to continue working to lead that battle and defend our freedoms and defend the Constitution.”

During the 2016 election, Cruz initially opted against endorsing Trump after Trump secured the Republican Party’s nomination following a heated primary race that pitted the Texas senator against the New York real estate mogul. Republican convention goers booed Cruz during his speech at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio, when he advised them to “vote your conscience.” Two months later, he endorsed Trump and assisted his presidential campaign.

Never Trump media figures lamented Cruz’s support for Trump’s campaign. Glenn Beck, a fervent Cruz supporter during the 2016 primary, described himself as “profoundly sad” following Cruz’s endorsement of Trump, whom Beck strongly opposed. Beck later described America as a “petulant child” worthy of divine punishment for making “the wrong choice” in nominating Trump.

Since the election, Cruz has largely supported Trump’s policies and agenda

Apologies to Ronald Reagan.

Ted Cruz votes almost entirely my way in the US Senate.

If your claims are to be believed, he votes almost entirely YOUR way in the US Senate, as well, yet you rant and rave against him. It's one of the stupidest things I've ever seen. Your monomaniacal fixation on the bitter feud between him and Trump two years ago does nobody any good.

Not until we rid the party of Ted Cruz and his supporters.

I have seen that type of rhetoric, before. It's quite common in totalitarian dictatorships. The democRAT Party is full of it.

It's a good thing Donald Trump doesn't share your totalitarian mindset.

If you wish to think that a man who didn’t care if Hillary Clinton was elected or not, is your ideological fellow traveler, go ahead.

If Conservatives had adopted Ted’s methods in 2016, Hillary Clinton would be president now.

None the less, you think he is your soul-mate.

You know that doesn’t make logical sense.

Why are you pushing this. Ted proved he was willing to sell our nation out over personal issues.

That’s not the type of man I want in a position of importance within our cause. If you do, we’ll have to agree to disagree.

Nonsense...

Refusing to endorse at the convention revealed Cruz was not one of us. Between the convention an the election, he just drove that point home.

You know it and I know it.

Any man that will sell you out once, will sell you out twice.

Ted Cruz almost single handed sunk our chances in 2016, by refusing to endorse Trump and work for him.

This allowed the press to demonize Trump and state that his own party members knew he was unfit for office. Ted’s personal issues and his tactics for getting even, played right into this.

Those watching the convention saw disunity. The medial capitalized on it. Ted fed these efforts.

Our Republic would be on the brink of ruin if Trump had not been elected.

You cast this aside as if Cruz’ only infraction was to withhold a breath mint on October 17th, 2016.

What would be your take right now, if Hillary were president, that Ted was now a great guy because he is in the Senate and on our side? Really?

Soulmate. Your word.

What Ted did at the convention was wrong.

I'd prefer that he apologized profusely and had begged for forgiveness. But he didn't.

Instead, he helped the campaign, and has been a Trump, and Trump agenda supporter ever since. He has done nothing but help Trump, and that should count for something.

Save your anger for the unrepentant nevertrumpers. They deserve it.

If Ted goes rogue again, I'll not support him.

But until he does, you shouldn't be so stuck on his convention ugliness.

Kindly push back from your computer, take a breath, and let's go back to supporting the Trump agenda, and attacking those who are the opponents (R's and D's) of all these good things.

Lakeshark, look, try to reason with others that 2.5 hours campaigning over about 100 days is supporting a campaign if you like, but don’t try it with me.

You are not a dumb guy. You know better that to try to peddle that nonsense.

In the last 50 days, Cruz spent 1 hour supporting Trump. In that on hour, you have postulated Ted turned the election around.

You are giving him credit for turning the election around and fully supporting Trump’s campaign.

The Trump campaign was putting in 15 to 18 hour days. Over 100 days that’s 1500 to 1800 campaign hours. That is what Trump supporters were putting in.

Ted put in 2.5 hours roughly.

That’s 0.1389 to 0.1667% of the time true Trump supporters put in.

Please quit trying to make the case Ted pulled it out for Trump. It’s insulting to the Trump team, and it actually sets up a kind of a self-inflicted ding on your reasoning > IMO.

Your words. Never came close to implying that. You know that's not true.

Why are you so hell fire bent on making him an unrepentant enemy like McCain, Flake, Goldberg, or Kristol?

I'm glad he's been supportive of the agenda, lining up as well as anyone. And you should be as well.

We're just going to have to disagree on this one. Leave it there.

If I have a friend and someone sells them out, I will never be a friend to that person. I will never trust that person.

If I saw someone sell out your trust, I’d never be a friend with them. Once you to have a friendship, it should remain that way. None of your friends should betray you, and I would be no party to them doing it, or have any relations after the fact.

People who sell others out have no morals. Cruz wasn’t just selling Trump out, or a friend out. He was selling out every other citizen in the nation.

If Hillary had been elected, we would ALL but subject to her demonic whims.

Why would I treat my nation any differently than a friend. All my friends live here.

Ted is a fast talking legalese utilizing con man. If you’ve ever had a child that turned to lying rather than telling the truth, when telling the truth would serve them better, you’ll understand why I won’t be developing a different policy with Ted Cruz.

Take care Lakeshark. I’m glad we agree on Trump.

‘Ted is a fast talking legalese utilizing con man.’

Cruz is the product of alcoholic parents. Add to that the father’s desertion when Ted was at a very young, very vulnerable age. People like to imagine that drunken, irresponsible parents can raise well adjusted kids but they can’t. Alcoholism takes an unspeakable toll on kids and it doesn’t all magically dissipate once the child becomes an adult, chronologically speaking.

Cruz has a compulsive fixation on himself. His loyal is to himself. The He lies smoothly and easily. He routinely likes and tries to have things both ways.

Cruz’ support for Trump is paper thin. Any time Trump is down and under serious, genuinely dangerous attack Cruz will join in. Cruz does not see his political success as tied to Trump’s. Cruz sees a veneer of Trump support as a stepping stone toward the future Cruz desires and believes he is entitled to.

These are my personal observations and conclusions. Iow, my opinion. Other people’s opinions will vary. My only claim to any insight greater than anyone else’s is that of having known personally an individual whose upbringing and personality closely mirrors Cruz. The similarities are striking and legion.

Wise, at last. He is competitive and would naturally like to turn in a nice margin of victory. We will see the future of Texas, just how Blue it risks becoming.

That was the talk on this site among a bloc in 2016 and 2017.

He routinely likes and tries to have things both ways.

************

Not totally unusual for someone who sees himself as climbing up the ladder to the top.
Long before Cruz endorsed Trump he was dealing with the Trump campaign.

snip .......

It took Ted Cruz four months and three weeks of “careful consideration, of
prayer and searching my own conscience” to declare publicly that he would
vote for Donald Trump.

He made the decision to profit by selling his supporter list to Trump far
faster than that.

Just six weeks after he dropped out – and more than a month before Cruz
would dramatically snub the nominee at the Republican National Convention
– the senator quietly began renting his vast donor email file to his former
rival, pocketing at least tens of thousands of dollars, and more likely hundreds
of thousands, that can be used to bankroll the Texan’s own political future.
