I thought that Orange County was one of the more “conservative” parts of the state. So much for that.

We lived there for 30 years and thought so too. It appears that OC has now tipped into the dark side.

Not voluntarily. It's like many other parts of California -- overrun with illegals, welfare moochers, and others who historically vote liberal. A lot of South OC is still conservative, as evidenced by the opposition to the homeless shelters as ordered by a federal judge (sorry, don't mean to hijack the thread).
