Impeachment is a political process, not a criminal one, so rules of evidence don't apply.

Impeachment is a LEGAL process targeting The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States who shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors. (U.S. Const., art. II, Sec. 4).

The rules of evidence most certainly should apply. I don't see why they wouldn't. I would hope that judicial precedent backs me up but I'm not sure about that.

Conveniently after everything has been scanned in and leaked. On the other hand, they may have not found what they were looking for since Trump doesn’t use email.

About time....

Just a note....Avenetti, Stormy's attorney, cancelled an interview with Fox a couple days ago. Attorney said Fox cancelled it....Fox said he's full of cr**....Avenetti cancelled.

Let me say a bit....I think Guiliani was the likely mentor to have a Special Master appointed....rather than a bunch of folks at the FBI...

Special Master? What the heck is that?

It's a legal term for someone appointed by a court to review a mass of documents and report back to the judge.

She now works on white collar and financial fraud cases as a partner in the New York office of Bracewell LLP.

Bracewell LLP is Rudy Giuliani's law firm.

Moynihan was a good guy. Probably a good bud of Guiliani.

She and Cohen's attorney will go through this together. The only kilnker?? Stormy's attorney, Avenetti wants to sit at the table with them also. The judge should NOT allow this. We'll see.

A special master is an agent of the court. Mueller and all his prosecutors and investigators are inferior. I believe Mueller has no say over who’s appointed. They only answer to the Judge and their scope is very particular and narrow. In this case it seems to be determining what information Mueller and his investigators can use since undoubtedly they’ve seen everything.

It’s not necessarily bad. I think SCOTUS should appoint a special master to oversee all of these inferior courts knocking down PDJT’s directives.

.... . the US government has become less about law and more about political patronage ever since the terrible years
of Democraps Clinton and Obama. They don't even pretend to protect the sacrosanct "rule of law" anymore.....

(hat tip Greenfield) The hate-filled left's antics demonstrate that they are not fighting the usual lefty bugaboos---racism, sexism, homophobia, income inequality, or war. They are fighting we, the people. The tearing down of statues is not because they deplore racists, but because the statues memorialize Americans and American history. Just as Soviet-era Communists didn’t just kill people; they erased them from photos and books, making them non-persons. The goal then was to achieve total control of the present through the past.

Just another depressing reminder of the "Obama legacy." Most legitimate leaders see as their goal to uplift a nation and its people.

Obama's actions served to demoralize a nation......his legacy is one of marginalizing law-abiding, go-getter Americans.

Obama triggered the rise of misfits, miscreants, ne're-do-wells, and misanthropes, and enabled them to hold sway over American culture.

The detrimental results of his presidency speak to Obama's hatred for superpower America.

Like the fictional Philip Nolan.....”The Man Without a Country,”
Obama seems to have renounced our nation......
Acts like he never heard of the United States of America.
Rumors persist that he wasnt even born in the US.

Even more egregious one could conclude Obama might have given explicit orders.......
”no one in the Democrat party should ever mention the United States of America ever again.”

==================================

Obama seems more at home in Kenya.......meddling in their elections.

Barack Obama with Mohamed Abdi, Somali muslim candidate for Mandera East, Kenya who lost.

“Wonder if Hannity would have a case against this Judge and/or Court?”

I would think that he’d have SOME kind of a case, probably against the judge (though more of an ethics complaint than a suit for monetary damages). Why? Because she basically ordered the disclosure of the relationship between Cohen and Hannity. I fail to see what purpose that disclosure had from the standpoint of showing that the search & seizure of these records was valid and/or necessary. It certainly was NOT necessary to show any wrongdoing by Trump - he was another client (even IF you say that Hannity was a client, which he denies).

Of course, if Hannity denies an attorney/client relationship, then there really isn’t any privilege.

Nonetheless, the entire thing STINKS!

Misdemeanors in that sense just mean a bad attitude, and could include things like choosing to go golfing for a couple of months, for example. Note that “Misdemeanors” is separate from “Crimes”.

Impeachment is a legal process because it is a Constitutional issue. I think the point is that government officials are or should be held to a higher standard of behavior than private citizens. There is certainly a political element though, but bad faith is mediated by the fact that that 2/3’s of the House has to agree to the formal accusation.
